But the headlights and front end of the car is angled this way as BMW want to reinstate the 7er as the core dynamic executive saloon.

Whilst the LWB model will eventually retain a V12 with Turbo charged power, the SWB sedan will forgo this due to the fact that LWB in V12 sells considerably more than the SWB . Of course the discussion of an M-Variant continues but no decision agreed , BMW will satisfy performance car fans with the 745i with a Twin-turbo V8 . BMW want to counter balance their powerful performance diesel equivalents with strong powerful petrol engines.

For the next 7er BMW engineers are very keen on the Maserati Quattroporte it looks fantastic , is fast and sounds great. No surprise then that this is BMW's benchmark for the 745i in it's dynamic handling areas. In it's latest shape the next 7er will lose some bodyfat become less pronounced but still retain some familiar identity thanks to the latest developments BMW are integrating into this car - Every generation of 7er has been the introduction of BMW's cutting edge technology. The F01/F02 will be no different.
That PS looks hot...

If that's all true and not just marketing hype then I'm getting really excited for the new 7...but I just hope it doesn't dissapoint.

I hope it is not a marketing hype. I am excited about the both the body styling and the engine prospect.
If the engineers deliver on both the engine performance and the chassis balance along with a beautiful body styling, the marketing department will have less work on selling the product.
With V8 and V12 turbo charging, BMW may not need an M model. The Alpina B7 is a supercharged 4.4 litre V8, and does have significant performance performance. I am expecting the in-house 4.4 litre turbo charged V8 to deliver as well.
I am sure the F01/02 will be a mean performance machine as well as a lovely luxury Sedan

Me neither, but the overall shape of the car is pretty good in that pic..Very sporty.

Edit;

Funny how a car that is 100% Italian is the main target for BMW. Not the Germans this time.

It's a Maserati by Ferrari. Of course it's a benchmark for driving dynamics & performance. All Germans are big clumsy whales in comparison to agile Quattroporte.

Re: F01 BMW 7er - first spy pics

I've heard that the front of the F01 will take styling cues from the H2R concept of 2004.
