You describe it perfectly...I was trying to find a word or two and "shelf stereo" fits. The interior is attractive but all the knobs and dials give a sense of engineers winning over the art designers. Nothing blends or flows...even the seat adjusters seems out of place. Everything is "square" or "round" or "rectangle" and lacks integration.

I do agree with you NJ about some of the details but I like the overall impression. Some of the switches and panels look a little cheap for a car in this class. I suspect BMW will go all out for it's next 7er, it is desperate to upstage Mercedes and the bar has been raised just that bit higher with the W221.

but they arent and let me tell you, when I studied S65 in Geneva I found some interior quality flaws. S8 offer the best interior and it doesnt need to cost 2 million swedish kronor to be the best.

What were the interior flaws you found on the S65...I have looked at my S550 pretty closely and darn if I can find anything out of place, and the quality of the products used appears to be top notch.

I have been inside a 7er and the buttons are top notch. What quality flaws did you find in the S65? I spent something like 10-15min in an S-class and couldn't find one damn thing I didn't like beside the cheap looking clock.
