Well, all armoured cars have to pass the same test to get the B4 or B6/B7 protection glass. So, they should be equal in terms of the safety…with slight differences.

Relax guys, it's ok. I honestly forgot to put a questionmark...
I (wanted to) ask because of this:
  • Both, the BMW 760Li High Security and the BMW 750Li High Security are the first models in the world to be certified to BRV 2009 and both vehicles meet the requirements of the new ballistic protection level VR7.

German Chancellor Angela Markel (she will surely win the election on sunday) is getting one ....

A safe choice

On Sunday's parliamentary election Angela Merkel and Frank-Walter Steinmeier will fight for the most coveted political office of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is now clear: the newly elected chancellor will get a new state car: The BMW 760 Li High Security.

The German Chancellor is one of the most endangered people in the world. A group of six bodyguards are always on the move with him or her. In the wider community or visits at home and abroad the security staff is much bigger. Four years ago Angela Merkel became the first female German Chancellor. Ever since she has been transported in heavily armored vehicles when on the road, due to security reasons.

The BMW 7 Series as an inaugural gift to the new Chancellor

The current fleet of the Federal Chancellery are heavily armored versions of Audi A8, Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series. The new chancellor, whether it comes to the exchange in the office or not, will get a new fleet vehicle as an inauguration gift.

The new BMW 760 Li High Security is currently one of the safest sedans in the world. Only American President Barack Obama with his Cadillac Number One on Pick-up base, and Russian President Vladimir Putin in his Mercedes S 600 Pullman Guard are protected a bit better on the road.

BMW 760 Li High Security: The safest car in the world

The BMW 760 Li High Security is now available, beside the BMW 750 Li High Security. It's world's first vehicle that has been certified under the ballistic Directive BRV, 2009. Both versions are classified as the new resistance level seven. The armored body panels meet even the requirements of the resistance level nine.

These types of cars are nice, but what happens if the lockes get jammed and you can't get out of the car? And considering it would have bullet proof glass it's not like you can break the window. Thats always been my concern with these cars. Other then that there great.

I guess it's a risk vs benefit deal.

Do want to worry about your life, or do you want to worry about a door getting jammed?

The two go hand and hand. If somehow a fire breaks out in the car and the door is jammed and I can't bust the window .....what do you think happens next?

Armored cars usually come with (automatic) fire extinguishers and I'm sure there is an emergency "unlock" function inside the car. All doors getting jammed at the same time doesn't sound very likely scenario but like I said if it happens I'm sure there is an emergency function (for example small explosives blowing off the door hinges).

Usually in such armored cars the windscreen serves as an emergency exit. You can kick it with your foot from the inside of the car, and it will came off, so that you can get out of the car, in a case that the doors cannot open!

In some armoured cars, such as Mercedes' Guard models, you exit the car via the trunk.
