I believe that was the case when both were under the same umbrella ..
RR: Luxurious more expensive variants
Bentley: Sporty (usually turbo'd) less expensive RR with front mesh grill
Now things has changed. Bentley will rival the Phantom with the new Grand sedan or whatever it will be called .. Maybe its time for RR to move and offer a sportier options ? I dunno ..

It's pretty simple (and SCOTT just about confirmed it) that the reason why there is no / and will not be an M7 is to give the Alpina B7 center stage as BMW's offering in the uber-luxury-sports market against the S65 and S8 and others.

There's no doubt BMW and M could create an M7... and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch from the M-philosophy since the new 7er is lower, sleeker and there are more stabilisation/traction control technology now (not to mention the X5/X6M went in the face of M-philosophy)....and there even would be some sort of market for such a vehicle....but BMW purposely choose not to so as to give the B7 all the chance it can get to garner sales.

Our best chance at something similar to an M7 was the CS Concept/8 series, but that too fell on the 'not to be' side of Shakepeare's famous quote.

Did I understand that correctly? A 760i with X-drive? Does anyone know if it will be an option, or will the 760i only come in AWD format?
Btw, does anyone have some pricing info for the 760i?

Why not just Kill M then? Maybe there should be no M division and just Alphina do the 3,5,7,X5, and X6. No need to have two sport tunned options and their doing the same exact thing. Just let Alphina do it all. Maybe BMW could sell the M division to Lexus and they can enhance their F cars. BMW could then run all operations through Alphina then and save some money in the process.

I completely agree. I'd rather it over any M especially over the M3 and M5. Nothing in this world like a large sedan moving quickly.
