![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New BMW 740d (3.0 L, 306 hp, 600 Nm) ![]() BMW to Debut New 3.0-liter Twin Turbo Diesel with 306HP on 735d BMW has confirmed the development of a new and more powerful version of its acclaimed 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six diesel engine. The new 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo diesel unit that churns out a maximum output of 306 horsepower at 4,400 rpm with a peak torque of 600 Nm or 442 lb-ft at just 1,500 rpm, will replace the current 3.0-liter inline-six diesel in the 735d, 335d, X5 35d etc that produces 286HP at 4,400 rpm and 580Nm or 428 lb-ft at 1,750 rpm. The Bavarian automaker supports that while the new engine is more powerful than its predecessor, at the same time it offers some 4 percent lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions - not bad. BMW said that the 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo diesel will make its premiere on the 735d later on this year with other models following soon after. [SOurce: CarScoop/Autoblog.nl]

![]() | Great. Fantastic even. A 3.0 liter bi-turbo diesel with 306 hp/600 Nm. The 745d 3.0 tri-turbo will have around 360 hp... And the 7er finally gets the 8 speed automatic it seems Eni?? Good! Shoud've been there from the start on all engines, but starting with a 300 hp diesel is ok too ![]() And I thought it was the case but I forgot....did the 8 speed have a start-stop function???

7er Hybrid will be next - incl. Automatic Stop-Start function, which is a feature the new gearbox is capable of. But it will be initially introduced in Hybrid models. Press release says: Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | BMW marketing tonsils. Now they're calling everything with a "twin-something" turbo "TwinPower". So, the new twinscroll, single turbo in the petrol 3.0 is TwinPower and this new multi-stage dual-turbo arrangement is so-called too. We need more information on this. Is this the latest in the 35d (M57TU2D30) engine technology that featured multi-stage, sequential turbocharging? Do they now combine this concept with twin-scroll turbocharging? Certainly seems that way...

![]() There will be MultiPower Turbo as well ... soon enough. Quote:
My sources say the new engine will be premiered together with xDrive - in a single model. Expect M Sports pack introduction in the same time as well. And Hybrid model is also somewhere there. There is certainly much going on in the 7er field. ![]() | ||
