 | Actually such an idea is not impossible , such a high efficient engine can be connected to a hybrid drivetrain to provide extra ooomph. The Geneva 2008 X5 Vision Concept actually used the diesel from the 123d connected to a hybrid drivetrain which was unsual for a car the size of the X5. I am not saying a 116d engine can go into a 7er but we can certainly look at other engines not considered for a 7er. The next 1er with 3 cylinders connected to a hybrid drivetrain will be BMW's efficient car ever and it will debut within months of the hatchback going sale. |

| Autocar testdrive - 740d M-package  This latest diesel Seven is good for 0-62mph in 6.3sec and 155mph flat out. It’ll also return fuel economy on the right side of 40mpg, and emits just 181g/km of CO2. BMW claims that all of those figures are class-leading, and we can’t fault them.
