Anyway, the brochure I have says Night Vision, Lane Assistance, Blind Spot Assitance etc. are all optional? High Beam Assistance is standard though.
Well when I ordered my 750i the dealer told me night vision was standard as it wasn't something I was going to waste money on as a option. Win, win for me in the end. Maybe it was just a deal with my dealership.

I'm glad to hear the Navigation and some of the other features are much easier to use then the previous drive.

I loved the looks of the previous 7 series, but after taking it on a test drive I was disappointed. NOT in the drive of the car, but how difficult it was to operate the most simplest of functions. Took me like 20 minutes to find out how to move the seat. The Navigation was almost stressful to use. Even the audio controls were irritating.

K-A will become famous soon enough
I'm in love with the new 7. But I have to admit it looks a little retarded in LWB form IMO, that back window is huuuuge, and kind of messes up the flow and continuity of the car.

When I drove the e65, I in fact found the iDrive to be surprisingly easy to use bar some functions that were hidden.
I liked it a lot, it felt soo cool not to reach for a button but to lazily move your hand instead. ANd that big screen, awesome too.

In fact, I can say that the iDrive was my fav part of the car.

Besides that, the build quality and materials were absolutely appalling, the ESP light was on (car was straight from revision by BMW and had a mere 30.000 kms on it), ergonomics of the buttons totally rubbish. And also, that ugly design... Interior looked good, when you were not too close from it...

The car was surprisingly agile for its weight (745iL with active rollbars). Comfort was however, especially at low speed, less than impressive for such a luxo-barge.

But the iDrive felt so 21st century! Even if some functions couldn't be found, I had no particular problems with it.

I saw a few F01 in the streets, never found time to stop and look at them closely. But while I find it extremely well designed (even the front is not that shocking IRL), it looks bit anonymous. More like a big 5er. It doesn't stand out, commands respect.

It lacks presence, it lacks novelty. It's nice, but not striking. More an understated type of car, but so is the A8. Yet the A8 (especially the S8) is visually more impressive, more special. While the S-Class is very impressive IRL and immediately demands respect, but lacks a bit of the A8's elegance and discretion.

If you take this statement and re-write it to reflect the opposite opinion, you will have my view on the subject.

This is still a mystery to me that people think this. I disagree with this 100%. If the S-class doesn't wear AMG package its just look dull and anonymous, the car just look big and thats about it.

Yes, the A8 is probably the most elegant of them all. But I agree the S-class is very impressive!

Well maybe it depends one where your from. Here in the US if an S-class rolls down the street AMG kit or not it COMMANDS everyones attention. The Only other types of cars that get more attention are exotics and RR/BENTLEY/MAYBACH.

I regular S-class especially in Black is considered a BOSS car in all respects over here.

May be cause he has a different taste from yours. May be try and respect that instead of shouting stuff in caps in ginormous fonts.

I live in the US and every time I see a S class all I can notice is the fugly fenders that remind of someone suffering from oedema.
