From a dynamic point of view, one of the biggest drawbacks of air suspension is that it increases the weight of the unsprung components resulting in a "heavy footed" feel in press-on driving. It is not the desired solution when dynamism and agility are key traits in the car's ride and handling design brief - generally speaking. Of course, with Porsche they always do somehow manage to break the stereotype and buck the trend.

Delphi. It is also used in 599GTB and ZR1.

I think the other factor with air suspension is the lack of mechanical feedback especially when used in the front.

Right Martin, which is why air suspension works so well in a car like an S-Class, but not on a sports car.

Yep Sunny on those and on the CTS-V, R8 and others. GM/Delphi actually came up with this, one of their brighter moments.
