The current SOHC 5.5liter bi-turbo V12 in the S600 doesn`t have that much longer before it`s fazed out. A replacement is already in the works. It should get Direct-Injection with Twin-Turbos. God only knows when MBs` going to release it. It would be nice to see a new V12 debut in the 2010 face/lifted S600.

800nm of torque in the 760 is about 590lb-ft of torque. The current Mercedes S600 already puts out 612lb-ft of torque (830nm). The new one should put out about 630- 660lb-ft (which would match the future AMG V8 torque rating), Anyway it`s going to be nuts and they need a new 7-speed transmission to handle that off the wall torque. The 5-speed is out really outdated.

There is already talk about a new Bi-Turbo 5.something V8 Mercedes (for the normal line) with the same output as the 760. (544hp) We are talking insane power for normal luxury cars, ridiculous!!

The upper aged is not going to be able to handle that sort of power.

M3 E46 had blown up engines the first year but the problem was later solved. No other M engines has suffer from blown up engines like the M3 E46. So you two fanboys ,shut up please.

if MB releases a bi turbo V8 5.something then they are really out of touch with the times,
the new modus operandi is downsizing, they'd better be prepping a turbo 4.something instead of such a huge V8, unless they decided to faze out the V12 in favor of a cheaper to build bored out version of the mainstream V8

'What irks the AMG boys is the fact that Mercedes AG is also preparing a number of sophisticated turbocharged V8s with a displacement of 4.0, 4.6 and 5.5 litres - and power outputs of 355, 435 and 544bhp. The two companies appear to be on a collision course...'

I believe there will always be a V12 in the MB line.. If this upcoming 5.5liter V8 get that much power the new V12 might have like 560hp, just a guess.

My dad drove this car - he said it was pretty damn impressive especially the four wheel steer.

He also mentioned active cruise, and how responsive the car was. He drove the 735d version in germany and ran at least 130 mph in that car..

Personally I can't wait to drive it.
