That is incredibly lame!

Japanese and Korean cars costing 1/8th the price have that.

So much for a technological marvel.

What about F01/F02 what is the purpose now in this era? These cars are the first bookends , then the PAS will join them as will the production BMW Gran-Turismo and then A top end Roadster/Coupe model . Then you get the Rolls-Royce RR04. When you see these cars altogether you will see that bridge joined at both ends and that is something to really look forward to.
Think of the PAS as a futuristic sedan - Again people have already made up their mind but their perspective will be ignored when you see what BMW have done for this new car - People seem to forget is that BMW are not like any other car company because we are not interested in following other manufacturers strategies. This of course is perceived as arrogance on BMW's part but today you have to be arrogant to get your point across as you are criticised as much as you are applauded.
Not everyone made up their minds beforehand, nor can you simply dismiss disliking a car for not understanding BMWs strategies. I also do not think a car company has emotions such as arrogance. It's a car company. They make cars and you can either buy them or not.

For me, I simply do not like the design of the F01. It is quite simply ugly and I am quite obviously not the only one that believes as much. I think the S Class and A8 are far better looking cars. That is not the same as thinking they are superior cars as I have not driven or lived with all 3 cars...looks aren't everything...but they are something. Not that I would ever buy such a large car, but I would be somewhat turned off the BMW 7 series due to its looks. For the pure emotional joy of staring at the car, the A8 or S Class are more appealing for me.

As for the PAS or X6...well they are essentially hatchbacks. You can call them a fancy name and market them as cutting edge and new...but they are hatchbacks and not everyone likes hatchbacks. Some people may like a hatchback, but others don't. Even BMW recognizes that, since that is why they have SUVs, 4 door sedans, 2 door coupes, convertibles etc. etc. (something for everyone).

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

finally a straight on front pic - these black and white pics are very nice. I'm warming up to this! Front on looks great and does invoke the CS quite a bit to me

Eni / Scott - will sport packages be available from the start in the US? I remember with the e65, there was a bitof a delay for sport wheels. Also, will there be a front bumper mod with the sport package (a la e60 550i) or are we just hoping in vain?

Thanks

Where is the much-anticipated 8-speed gearbox that we were all looking forward to?

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

so the bmw signature yellow light for odometers is really gone, that's sad, it looks more audi than bmw now.

after seeing the video and more picture, i have concluded that it's a good car, but didn't blow me away. to be honest i am kind of disapppointed after all the hype about the car's design and what not.

unlike the desigh of the previous gen 7er, i thought it was leaps ahead of the previous-gen s-class when it was first debuted in around year 2003, and actually converted many who would have bought s-class into bmw camp (i know lots of such examples), but this one is definitely not.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

So, this is the sensor that monitors the blind spot?

I'm probably the only one who will miss the four direction main menu on iDrive, that was a BMW trademark IMO. This one has a hint of Audi's MMI in it.

I'm also gonna miss the orange instruments and the shifter.

And it's about time the 7er got exposed exhaust tips!
