Which is why I'm claiming all the time BMW is coming out with more trendy, flashy, more modern & more organic designs than eg. MB.

Yes, MB designers probably still take inspirations from modern stuff, but from what I'm seeing they're moving away from organic to more mechanic (rectangular instead of smooth) lines. Not exactly consistent with the trend which dictates "back to the nature ... more natural, more organic".

BMW as utterly trendy brand, MB as an anti-trendy brand? Interesting marketing decisions if that's true.

Well, quite a lot of you are comparing this car with the Lexus LS or even the Citroen C5. No question: there is some likeness - at least all this cars got 4 wheels! But anyway: I think the new 7 got it´s own design cues. Fashion is always making things to look alike. Even my 1938 Buick Century looks like a 1938 Hudson, which looks like a 1938 Dodge while that one reminds you an 1938 Studebaker - leave alone the Oldsmobile´s or Pontiacs of the same season.
I can still find a lot of outstanding design features at the F01. How about just discussing the car itself without suggesting it looks like another one again and again?
Best regards, Swingfan

Eni: what is the small black circle in front of the front wheels in the wheel arch ? Is it a sensor or something ? and why it was not painted ?

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

Its probably the 'sideview' camera...Somewhere it was mentioned the optional sideview camera would be in the front fender.

just my guess...

Yeah, that is my guess as well, it is located in a vulnerable position. I thought the 'side view' camera will be located underneath the side mirrors, with the blind spot cameras.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

The main problem with this car pretty much is that BMW is trying to give it too many ingredients, when in a class like this 1 of the only 3 main things that count have to do with design, its a mess of a mixture of an ELEGANT look that wants to be very sporty, a big car that wants to look small, and a heavy car that wants to look light ...

Now correct me if im wrong, they seem to be approaching Mercedes's designs in many ways, from the side, the front end looks like the CL, then it has a wider but longer grille like MB does especially on the front of the GL (because the GL has that same flat front grille and front end in general), then it also has the silver touches on the front bumper and sides which looks very but very common to SL's ... As for the rear, like I said it looks cheap, similar in a way to the C class rear headlamps which arent that exciting anyway....

So if u take a closer look at what i mentioned as my opinion ofcourse, you will notice if u agree that this 7 series is trying to be a coupe/roadster/aggressive/compact sedan/Large sedan all at the same time .... In my books, the only way u can do all that is in a minivan which wouldnt really be appealing in the end as a result ...

Im out ..lol

The real life pictures are changing my opinion....

BMW really needs to change up how they do the press photos because they never do the cars any justice.
