And the twin turbos keep delivering, over that wide rpm range mentioned earlier. The effect is that of a significantly larger-displacement engine; yet this aluminum V-8 weighs less than such a larger, naturally aspirated engine of comparable performance would. | See, even the BMW press release people are getting confused by their own nomenclature. For pete's sake: just call it a darn 735i and stick with the program! It's not a four litre V8 obviously. This press release isn't that well written, and it doesn't really give much technical details away. Quote: |
The doors are also aluminum, saving a further 48.5 lb. As on the predecessor, the hood and front fenders are also aluminum, making for a significant contribution to these automobiles’ overall weight efficiencyy.
| It doesn't matter what they say about using light weight materials, they just won't admit this car is heavier than the previous generatoin, and what the hell is weight efficiency?
Another thing I have noticed is the new 7-series doesn't have MB style pre-safe system, I wonder why. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Monster For This Useful Post: | | | Enthusiast

wow, as much as we are all car fans, some ppl really do take negative criticisms a tad too seriously. Some of the BMW fanboys really need to grow a back bone.
I still maintain my intial thoughts of the 7er (I am pleased with it), but anyone else think that this is rather what the E65 face lift should have looked like?
Im absolutely loving the PS done by Andy Valencia (thanks for the new wallpaper buddy ). The F01 will definitely look much better in darker colour's IMO and perhaps the same can be said for a interior with a good contrast.
I was pretty disturbed to see blue lights on the instrument cluster instead of the conventional orange but Im guessing (or rather HOPING) that the instrument cluster will allow those settings to be adjusted.
I mentioned this from the first pic of the first FEP that surfaced, the kidneys are distastefully humoungus and just dont flow well with the front of the car. Im still going to reserve my final opinion for a "IRL" viewing but except for the front bumper/kidneys, I think its A-okay. Quote:

As usual, the real life pics are better than the official ones.

For me personally, the low point of the new 7 series is definitely the engine compartment.
The engine looks fine, dont get me wrong.
Look at those two cheap metal trusses that connects the suspension strut towers to the front member. Absolutely awful!!!!!!! They're there to provide strength to the front crash structure.
Mercedes would never do that. They would find a more elegant solution. | | | | | GCZ's High Court
