![]() | Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series I really think the rear is something special. I guess the concern is the rear lights looks too big in pictures that makes the whole thing looks rather cheap, and we were all used to Bangle butts, but just look at the CS, this is an interpretation of it, but taller. It gives you the feeling of a modern BMW and carrying traditions of BMW, what's the codename for the 7series before E38? If I was to be disappointed, it would be the front because of the teaser pic, but then it was all expected.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series Woah woah woah! I can't believe what I miss when I spend one day away from GCZ. I hate to say it guys - as somebody who practically made a career at GCF talking about Bangle, Hooydonk and BMW design philosophy I can't put in to words how totally disappointed I am by the F01's design. It would be one thing if the car was simply a derivative revisit of the E65, but the rear lights are a complete blunder and a missed opportunity. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the lights was "Lexus LS." For the most part, this is a very handsome, well sclupted car that no doubt will be striking in the flesh. But conceptually, this is a non-starter for BMW. The interior is very well executed, but the detailing reminds me of Audi - not a bad thing in terms of perceived quality, but the shapes don't make me think "BMW." The E65 blazed a trail on interiors, the F01 appears excellent, but doesn't say anything new. I'm sorta stunned, and sorta shocked. After seeing the Concept CS I really thought that we'd be witnessing a F01 that would present a new challenge to the public and reset the bar. Instead we have what is arguably the most evolutionary 7er redesign ever. All in all - it's a very handsome car that gets the job done and the sculpting looks excellent. I could console myself knowing that it's just a perfunctory exercise in excellent design were it not for those rear lights - they're a daft, bawdy and ham-fisted gesture on a car on a surface that really calls for more finesse and refinement. But where is the wow? It's not here, that's for sure. Believe it - BMW has gone safe. (DISCLAIMER - I'm prone to flip-flop whenever I have a passionately negative reaction to a new car. So who knows, by this time tomorrow I could be in love with this car.)

![]() | Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series me 2 ... I know the rear looks like Lexus LS inspired .. but knowing that design was sealed loong time back as Eni mentioned , i don't think they copied Lexus .. even if they did ... it doesn't look right and that what matters .. anyway its a minor point to me ... car overall looks nice and more elegantly proportioned compared to E65/66 ... |

Overall, I like the new 7er, it is much more conservative than I was expecting ...but maybe that is anticipating a change in the market. The global economy is looking very insecure right now ...people who can afford a car like this, often prefer more conservative things in tougher times.

![]() | Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series ![]() Some beautiful use of colour/light/texture here. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the details.
