Regarding DPC ... Hm, it seems the "active rear differential" is actually e-diff like the one in 135i. I have always thought "active rear differential" is DPC, and nothing else. Strange.
Maybe the teaser picture showed the 760i , with a slightly different front design ?

Any info on if/when an M-package will be available ?

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

I love the profile. The rest, I will wait for official pics. Also they need to fire the guy who comes up with the colors to reveal the car in.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

Sunny, it doesn't get any more official than this......Maybe the pics were leaked a bit early, but this is it.

I'd rather wait for self made pics in the wild or on a show, these are always much much better.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

What follows is my honest, initial emotional response to first seeing the pics a few minutes ago.

So this is it? To be honest I'm disappointed. It looks relatively ... normal. With all the hype that has been going on recently I thought it would be a cross between a particle accelerator, the space shuttle and every memorable BMW since the original 328.

In any case, I don't hate the exterior (bar the view directly from behind), but in my eyes it's more Lexus than BMW (either the old, good BMW or the new, bangled-up one). Of course the familiar styling cues are there, but somehow they really don't come together (in my eyes, that is). The taillight design reminds me of the Corolla:

(No, it's not the same, but that was the first thing my mind associated it with.)

The interior continues the same trend as other recent BMW's and is absolutely not at all to my taste.

Mixed emotions about this car. I think it needs to grow on me for a time. I think it looks better in some white or black or grey color. I certanly hope that the car looks stunning irl.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

To my mind, the 7 is intended to be the large, imposing luxury sedan that speaks to power and status, especially in LWB form. This, it appears to me, it does very well.

I also believe a certain amount of conservatism is expected in this market, and I believe it does conveys that well too, with the right dash of edge.

I'm not in the market for this type of car, so the fact that I would have liked something sexier (which would have been nice) is something over which BMW will no doubt lose no sleep.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

I really like this car, but the back needs to grow on me. The way the lights work reminds me of the Lexus LS . Not the shape of the lights, don't get me wrong, the shape is much better than the Lexus, but the way the light illuminates.

Overall, the car is such a beautiful creation, love how they brought back the exhaust. I love the interior so much, i could sell my house now and just live in this car.

Re: Official: The New BMW 7 Series

Will the car be present at the British Autoshow taking place later this month? Would love to see the car there.
