What seems to be the problem? If some of the buttons on the I-drive are the same as in a 3-series and said buttons are of as good quality as the ones used by the competition then I see no problem with it. Both the 3-series and the 7-series are BMW:s and I think there is a good thing that some features are as alike a possible across the line. That said, should the buttons be of inferior quality they should not be uesd.... but then again, they should not be uesd in the 3-series either.

so what doesn't the C class, new E class and S class use the same knob?
didn't the whole previous BMW lineup use the same knob?
come on people grow up, for all i care the same ENGINES are used in 3er and 7er, C and S, etc...
but maybe mr centurion is too offended by the idea of proper economics, or klier getting lost in his european superiority complex

Hmm, I wonder what is worse? sharing I drive buttons? or C63 and S63 sharing same engine?

And here comes the train of vacuous bs excuses about how the latter actually is the right thing to do.

And can some one enlighten me on the big difference between the 'I drive' knob in C and S class, cause I can't tell.

Well u can say the same about engine sharing between 730D and 33iD.

And the 'command' controller as in MB's concept back in 1990s(not sure which year) is different in the S than the C.

Lol, it is not my position that sharing components is bad, it is your fellow MB fan boy club card holders who hold that position. It is hilarious that you guys even forget what side you guys are arguing on.

Between the knobs, no. One looks maybe a little bigger and diffrent shade of grey in the middle.
