Oh so plastic can vary in quality. It means nothing if I-drive buttons on 3er and 7er is the same as long as the quality is good. Talk about complaning on small details.

Details are exactly what matters in this segment. That's what sets it apart from cars like the 5er and E-class.

No one is going to say no to a 7er becuase the I-drive share some buttons with a 3er. As long as the quality is good then its all good.

Personally, I think the black buttons and switches in the 7er look very sophisticated and stylish -- this car has really impressed me ....and, as you know, I am notoriously difficult to impress

Actually the interior switches are very much influenced by high-end mobile phones. If you look at the Idrive control panel you can see the quality , design and lay out is very much similar to my Nokia N93.
Which I use to work on my ideas to swoop over key details of the car , especially in the interior to see how we want the car represented in film and then the media take over.

And a few hundred others of the "Respected" automotive media it was not just an "exclusive" for autospies.

If you're sick of it then stop getting into person things that you have no knowledge of. Like I said before you can disagree about an opinion posted here, but when you get into personal assumptions about members you make yourself look like a fool. Telling me what I have driven/seen/sat in is something you can't possibly know, or in this case you would have known if you'd bother to read everything in your precious BMW forum. Calling me a "Patriot" is nothing more than a save-face move in covering up your own mess. You can't see the forest for the trees, because in my original post about the X6/X5 being built in America I actually complimented BMW. But no I'm "Patriot" because I think BMW can build a car in America of equal quality to ones they build in Germany...all the while admitting that Mercedes has trouble with doing this. A true "Patriot" with flag in hand would sit here and tell you that everything German or Japanese built in America is of equal quality of the products built in Germany and Japan, yet I pointed out that they aren't. Yet I'm a "patriot" according to you? My god man you're hopeless and clueless for real.

I don't think anyone has raise this point yet so I will.

The entire front structure forward of the A-pillar in the 5 series is made from aluminium to save weight. I would think BMW will continue to do so with the new 7-series, but so far it doesn't seem to be the case. I am guessing it is because of engineering issues.
