Otherwise it's galvanized plastics (plastic coated with metal layer). Yet the coat thickness can vary from few micrometers to several millimeters. Depends on part type, and segment of vehicle.

I'm sure BMW will introduce some shiny ("chromed") parts in the F01 production version cabin. Incl. the buttons.

Although some sporty versions of F01 may be less bling! than some F02 versions.
Yeah off course manufacturer's "cheat" with materials but regardless of that non metallic buttons like those in the Autobild images are well below the level of luxury sensation I expected. I guess Mercedes set the bar very high with the w221 which has impeccable interior quality, more or less all buttons are coated in metal, and of the very few which aren't they feel top notch.

Re: F01 / F02 BMW 7er - Spy Pics & Info Part IV (first FEP pics incl.!!!)

I do hope the production door panel (and the whole interior as well...) will look way better than those preproduction shots suggest. It just cannot look so substandard as so granny (the current car fit and finish is fine by me and still looks adequately upmarket).

But the whole styling cleary lacks the sense of elegance & refinement & novelty we've been expecting for the 7 series. The competition isn't as far back as it used to be in 2001...
Even "volume" makers are catching up nowadays: Just take a look at the new CITROËN C5 interior furnishings

I'm becoming less & less optimistic about this new car...

I hate how BMW is making their speaker grills so large and visible on the doors.

Auto-opening doors, perhaps?

Re: F01 / F02 BMW 7er - Spy Pics & Info Part IV (first FEP pics incl.!!!)

i can clearly see door handles, those little chromey parts above the window controls
anyway looking clealry at the pics, and keepin in mind this is a demo prototype, with sub par fit and finish, crappy wood trim and a very dull grey on dark grey leather, one can clearly see, paritculalry in the design of the door, that there is a very precise and subtle attention to detail.
i am not afraid at all, this is just showing the right stuff in the worst way possible

As I said before - some models will feature "dark chrome" trim.
So, expect parts (eg. buttons) to be coated with dark graphite like metal, not with silver shiny standard chrome.

Re: F01 / F02 BMW 7er - Spy Pics & Info Part IV (first FEP pics incl.!!!)

I keep getting PM's to ask to reveal some more of the 7er , But I am not one to bow down to pressure, what I will share with you is the last days of filming .

Here is the external storage hard drives that contain every image whether video or photography , whilst there is 3 drives here each one contains the same information. When it was a wrap. The detail is copied onto disc and stored , it is then uploaded to BMW's server which is downloaded at Munich for preliminary work and viewing and by the Art dept. Which will begin work on the final brouchure and media press release , I hand another over to the external media company outside that will edit and score the filming to my chosen brief. So basically it is all go from tomorrow , so I am going to be in the office for about five minutes if I am lucky , And with preliminary work now commenced with the Z4 - I am thinking for the theme "Destinations : A seemless dash to the horizon" Sunrise to Sundown starting from the City and then to the coastal roads climaxing with the final shot of the Z4 sitting on a beach as the sun sets - Orange and red hues on the body work and a fade out.

Here is a location evaluted for the Z4 .
