Personally, this interior (design) is so below par compared to the S Class it's not funny. It's almost a carbon copy of the X5/X6. I expect that we will see much better when release time comes around... | Absolutely impossible. They would loose all the credit and nobody would listen to their infos after such a thing.
Of course they don't tell all us what they know. But what they tell us is more or less true, or at least not false.
I think the interior will turn out better than this pic. Here the panels are awfully assembled, the air-vents are horrible as the fake iDrive screen with its old design for the functions (I expect very realistic pics like the W221, or even maybe a kind of "3D" look)...Maybe the buttons will look better too...
But it seems the whole will look similar to this.
I think the true problem is... if you're told since 2 years that the new 7er will be more sexy than a naked Heidi Klum, will make the e38 appear porky and will look as good as the CS... it's absolutely clear that you will be deceived to see that it is, after all, a 5m+ executive saloon with a rather conservative design.
If you're told that Rolls engineers are in charge for the quality, that it will make the W221 appear like DOS and furthermore as good finished as a Fiat Panda next to the new 7er... you're deceived to see that it is a car that only costs 80,000+ €, and that it does not fly after all... | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to coolraoul For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

I think it's great that it has the normal A/C control knobs. They are easier and more intuitive to use than the switches in the S-Class. I think they are safer too since you don't have to look where your hand is when you operate them. In the S-Class you might unintentionally switch the windshield/rear window heater on or increase/decrease the fan when you just wanted to adjust the temperature. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to bmer For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

Thing is that honestly, you never changes the temperature settings with modern A/C with very advanced automatic regulation.
That is why the C-Class has big, user-friendly rotative buttons, but the S these (beautiful, you have to reckon) switches: the A/C is even better and does not require any intervention. They're here just in case. | | | | | Aficionado

The F01 BMW 7-series will make an S class look ugly on the inside. Just wait with all these stupid conclusions next time you see an interior mock up made out of freaking clay

Both interior & exterior designs are improved to fit better in BMW model line. Very familiar, but still much different.
But you are right - E65 won't be a black sheep anymore. Quote: |

| F01 is extremely elegant & impressive design. Conservative? Compared to pre-FL E65 - definitely. Compared to FL E65 - not at all. Styling is very fresh & modern - still very avant-garde, yet there's no more ultra-controversial details like on pre-FL E65. This car task is different than it was E65's task.
When the car is introduced, you'll see many of CS design cues are there ... But is was said by me & Scott not to expect 7er to be a carbon copy of CS - since CS is a design study for upcoming 4dr GT. But ... Just like Z9 GT Concept was based on E65, and showcasing the 6er - just like CS is based on 7er (having some common design elements), an showcasing the "new 8er".
Btw, nobody said F01 would make E38 to appear porky. Where did you get that? It was said by me the car would bring the E38 spirit back - with much more sporty & less bloated design as E65 was, and with stressed horizontal character line. And despite being bigger than E65 the F01 appears smaller than it really is. Quote:

But do not expect the car to have wings after all. Because it doesn't have them. Quote:

Regarding "BMW Creative Marketing": the poll here showed its activity is very welcome & appreciated. Being mocked by some small group of members won't hurt it at all. And I'm still shock neither MB & Audi marketing dept. nor the MB & Audi fans still haven't got the point of "BMW Creative Marketing" role & importance in the internet communities. | | | | | Fanatic

Well EnI, I only stated that the "Creative Marketing", sometimes can be a bit excessive. But it is highly welcomed.
As you may have noticed, some of the biggest complains against the F01 are coming from BMW fans.
I only said it may be that the Heidi Klum thing, along with the DOS vs Windows statements, have induced deceptions because after all the F01 can't be a F599 with Arnage interior...
Because it turned out that the F01 looks good, but not as good as the aforementionned person, and that the interior is far from looking as good as Windows compared to a W221 that should be DOS. And I don't think the tech will be that groundbreaking either, it sure will have some nice stuff but won't make the S-Class look outfashioned.
If you have too high hopes (or if someone says to you that this will be better than walking on Mars) you can be deceived...this is what happens with the F01.
I did not criticize the car, as I did not saw it. Quote:

j/k, honestly I don't get it either. It's weird. I would love to have Benz insiders giving details or clues about the detail or tech of new Benzes, sayinf when a PS is dead wrong or when it's spot on... Leaking details to maintain high attention and increase the desire for the car.
It is very clever from BMW to have this, and makes the discovering of a new Beemer much more interesting than only waiting for camoed tank-like spy-pics and awful-looking PS... | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to coolraoul For This Useful Post: | | | Contributor

In my current Jet-Lag state I will comment (it's just past 0330 in Auckland)
Maybe someone is in the car-park of this hotel photographing an undisguised 7er?

We have always been a target in this way because we decided to progress if we brought out equivalents of each model just in different segments I do not think we would be so successful as we are now. This is the stale mate Audi have no entered no doubt they can do radical witness the R8 but the mainstream product showcases no imagination just playing safe - Maybe that is there intention and good luck to them but boredom will eventually set in with the media chiming in about the unadventurous approach taken with the Q5.
BMW is a radical company because we take the next step , the next jump people still have not forgiven us for that jump to where we are now.
But do I care ,if someone walks up to me and starts talking design details on BMW products as a negative I just walk away, Believe me within marketing everybody approaches on press day @ a motor show.
But you have to take risks to keep within the spotlight and show that you are progressing as a company either to the world and importantly investors , Mercedes are undergoing their jump now whereas the GLK looks taut with it's edgy look , Maybe the look shown here will not translate as well to other segments the E-Klasse for example is not looking good with it's squared off rear haunches. The F10 5er will feature more cleaner and smoother surface work.
Maybe like the S-Klasse which seems to have been influenced by the 1st gen. Ford Focus with it's over styled wheel arches it would look better in dark colors or investing in the AMG kit that takes the focus of the wheel arches. Works for the S-Klasse. | | | | | Fanatic

^^
BMW: "if you don't go forward you go backward"
Audi "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
Benz, somewhere in-between. They change too, like BMW, but without shocking too much.
I would say...the three are entitled to their strategy, and it seems the three are working very well so far! The rest is, after all, not that important...
I would love to have some insider view on the new tech the F01 will bring with it... Now that we have a quite good idea of its look inside and out...
It of course will have a better Infrared system, surely a Lane Keep Assyst (hopefully without steering action though) and a Bliss system (warning in the mirrors), a Presafe Plus with emergency brakingmaybe a sign-recognization with auto-braking, and a park-system.
But will it have a really re-thought (by Apple?) iDrive, an enhanced HUD (don't know if I like this thing), and more of all, will it have 42v? That could allow much more powerful electronic equipments...and engines maps and all that... | | | | | Advocate

i think MB (and Audi) fans are coping just fine on this forum... | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to justanthony For This Useful Post: | | |
