When I rest my arms, it's on the right side of the arm rest... left side is too close to the body. So in a normal seating position, your hands are right next to the I-drive controller. Don't knock it until you've sat in one

I sort of like it, but it's no the best. I like the I-drive knob but it looks too far away oh and the wood

You can't judge the quality based on that pictures. It's either a chop or a photo of an early F01 interior for displaying purpose. Similar to the interior image we saw of the new E-class last year.

You're right. The controller in both the X5 and X6 sit globally in the same spot as the F01, and in both SUVs they work pretty great. Very easy to use even with your arm in a relaxed leaning position.

Well that is your personal case. Some people have shorter arms and would place their arm closer to them. The design is simply too busy, the large botton just behind the controller is another big ergonomic mistake. You simply have to float your wrist above and beyond other controls to get to the knob..

I'm 5"8 so I'm not a big guy at all. You have to try it out first before you can say it's an ergonomic disaster... because it isn't at all. Now the window controls on the pre-fl 5 series was ridiculous.

and what button are you talking about?

Well, let me ask you a simple question.. would you rather float your wrist with a multi-tasking I-Drive controller?? (that could be straining after a while.) or rest it there under soft leather padding. The answer is quit simple mate.

Warot, I believe thats the brake release botton behind the controller, whatever the case, it`s a bad spot.
