Here are some technical facts from the AutoBild article :
- BMW will offer a mild-hybrid version which will allow to drive short distances with the electric engine only
- The diesel engines will have the 'Blue Performance' technology
- Top engine will be the new V12-BiTurbo (N74B60) , direct injection with 544 PS (initially) in 2011 the power will be increased to 571 PS
- All wheel drive available for all models except 730i/d
- adaptive Air- suspension
- DPC (from X6)
- Rear wheel steering : not confirmed by BMW , but info comes from suppliers
- New electronics generation : access to Internet
No mention of 42V system, no mention of camless engines
- seat adjustment buttons are not in the door panel....no mention where they actually are (the location of these buttons was a frequent point of critisism in the current model)
- no detailed photo of instrument cluster, however they appear different than the ones we saw in the spy pics (in the spy pics the main dials were fake...now they are probably some kind of TFT
The author is disappointed that BMW missed the chance to differentiate the LWB version from the SWB version
- upcoming Baby RR is based on LWB 7er (F02)
- they will share Chassis, Body structure, V12 powertrain , electronics
- upcoming Baby RR variants include a 4 seater coupe and a 2 seat roadster
- 2011 the CS will debut, based on the 7er
- on the same platform BMW is planning the Z9 , an exclusive sportscar
Sorry, my scanner does not work...but the rear of the AutoBild picture looks very much like this one :
The difference is that the character line does NOT seperate the upper (blinker) part and goes along with it (like in the above picture and on the CS) . Instead in enters somewhere in the middle of the upper part goes down and disappears ...very strange and 'unnatural' . Also, the top edge of the light cluster seems almost horizontal , instead of tilted inwards...
Someone will probably post the pics soon .
I am disappointed that so little of the CS made it into the 7 .
Well, we can still hope that the AutoBild pictures are not correct , but this hope in waning unfortunately....The dropping characterline you can see in the spy pics btw...I was wondering when I first saw it, what it was. I thaught it was a fold in the white mesh they put over the light cluster.... I was also wondering, why the charcterline in the spy pics did not meet exactly the seperation between 'Blinker' and lower part...
Now we have the explanation
But for final judgement, we'll have to wait for the official pictures
