Because the characterline continues into the eyebrow, and then the shutline of the bonnet connects to the eyebrow too, so it's not a shutline out of nowhere like in the PS of the magazine. Here, the eyebrow connects the characterline and the bonnet shutline together. Pretty cool. I would've loved to see the side shutline of the bonnet merging with the character line. here it looks a bit busy, with the bonnet shutline and the characterline so close from each other over the front fender (a bit like the new A4). Furthermore these side bonnet shutline should connect with something, it can't bee like that. So maybe the headlamp is a bit different, with the bonnet shutline connected to the eyebrow, and the characterline connected to the corner of the headlamp? See what I mean? Or maybe is it the bonnet itself who is wrong.

IMO you are confusing 2 different things: 1. dated design 2. design we got used to it, and now find it familiar 6er design is definitely not dated. Featuring flame surfacing & duck-tail boot lid etc the design features that are going mainstream right now - they are in an emerging state, not in a declining one. Hardly a "dated design". 6er is now 4.5 years old, and still looks very up to date. Yes, I admit - since the models is 4.5 years old we are used to it. The "new" factor is gone. And since many carmakers are coming with similar design features even the initial "shock!" / "W.T.F?!" factor is gone. And therefore the car looks less "interesting" & "special". But that happens to every car during its life cycle. ![]() | |

To be Honest the latest PS is disgusting but as some said final product look almost always way better than the crap PS so i will wait for the final product cause i find it hard to believe that a car with such beautiful proportions could have such a front.

Concerning the 6er...I've never liked its sad face, but for me it hasn't aged. I quite like it from the rear and the side, actually. The 5er and 7er have aged quite a lot, on the other hand. The pre-FL 7er looks incredibly old, in fact, older then the e38 I dare to say. I'm always amazed when I see one, especially with orange blinkers, really it looks incredibly old.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: F01 / F02 BMW 7er - Spy Pics & Info Part IV (first FEP pics incl.!!!) Thank Scott for your post. But i think there are a few thing wrong on it. You say that the 6er is not dated, and i am with you, but what people want is a much more elegant and agresive line. Imagine a 6er wich is similar to that chop based on CS cues. That would be fantastic, of course, the current model can stay for a few more years, thats without any doubt. Then about the E65. Y think i can speak with objetivity of this because i see a pre FL one very often, always the same, always black. It is a car that because of the lights, the colours, and the shape coulb be an actual one, but actually it´s not a pretty car, in BMW overvalue yourselves. BMW may tink its desings are incredibly modern or advanced for their time, for because of their aim of doing this, they have done a very poor desings during the last years, doing some thing worse than before (stil remeber when a was going to change my E39 for the new E60 and some friends journalists told me that the interior quallity was worse the the E39 one). Or the 3er, the 1er, the X3, all ugly desings (X3 is like an old splipper)... don´t know man, for a time till now, BMW has going into worse desings than the previous models (just look the FL E46 Compact and the 1er). EnI, really gratefull to read that the car is much more agresive, that PS is incredibly boring and soft. |

Sorry gang, but is all the hullabaloo in this thread of late over just one picture? This one? ![]() I am obviously no longer in tune with the tastes of the new generation because the reactions based on what is clearly the closest rendition of the new 7er have me a little stumped. Sorry, am I meant to be expecting the new 7er to look like the Concept CS? Am I meant be expecting something absolutely gorgeous and universally appealing? Surely not. Because, historically the BMW 7 series has never been any of these things. In fact, if there's a car that BMW have had the biggest roller coaster ride with over the last 25 years of my motoring memory, in terms of criticism levelled at styling, then it has to be the 7er through the last 3 generations. First it was too odd, then too bland, then too ugly... I tell you what, if the new 7er looks close to this then it'll have been a fine effort from the designers.
