Out Of Space ... The new BMW 7-series





Fresh news: first VIP visitor who were able to see the car at Geneva VIP saloon spontaneously started to shake hands & congratulate BMW top managers & design chiefs on the new 7er. My birdie said BMW officials had been overwhelmed since nothing like that happened in last 20 years.

Is that how Bangle describes it?

The current one was out of space as well, so what's new?

No pics from the VIp presentation? I wish I was a fly on the wall.

BMW has shown other vehicles similarly before without any leaks so I doubt we will see one now. They only show them to people they can absolutely trust.

Would you put a BMW VIP membership in jeopardy by trying taking a pic? A membership that allows you to preview every BMW Group models months ahead? I think you wouldn't.

Neither would the personnel in VIP area.

The trick is visits at BMW area are scheduled. Usually only a few people per session are allowed - so they have all the time & space observing new cars, and the BMW officials & stuff can monitor every move they make. Of course all personnel & even VIP guests are obligated to sign a strict NDA.

Only once a leak from a similar event happened - a leak of E63 / E64 6er - when some stupid sales manager took a pic at a special presentation event for BMW sales managers from around the world. Not only he lost his job, but also almost all his assets to pay damages to BMW AG.

All manufactures have these VIP shows. The invited ones have to relinquish all their electronic devices before entering the room, some might be exempt though. Only a handful of people get to see the cars at a time, and you can bet that they have plenty of eyes of them. What happens in the room stays in the room.

Of course BMW is not the only one doing these VIP presentations but we were talking about the 7er. That's why I mentioned only BMW.

The night before the show BMW AG held it's annual "This is what you get in 2008" show for BMW CH. Just before the 7er's were about to enter the studio they were backed up for a bit outside , So anybody walking by And I am led to presume as I am in Australia at the moment. There were a lot of people in the vicinity and anyone could have caught the cars undisguised but nonone batted an eyelid or less they are currently being sold to the highest bidders, And not only are auto media informed but also our deadliest rivals.

The 7er is backstage @ Geneva in both F01/F02 , As is an X6 , Alpine White M3 Cabrio and the new Z4.
