Actually, Scott, I told that (a bit indirectly) to Luwalira a while ago when he said F01 tail lights looked CS inspired ... But it went mostly unnoticed.

In Z9 GT Concept vs E65 7er case it was so. Z9 was inspired by E65 design - the 7er design was already chosen, and Adrian van Hooydonk got the extra opportunity: to design a Concept car that will show an upcoming design of new BMW models, and showcase GT coupe by BMW: the Z9 GT Concept.
6er design was not chosen yet at that time, but AVH derived the 6er design from his Z9 concept and won the internal competition.

So, it is very possible CS has F01 7er inspired rear lights - and other features as well.

F01 design had been already chosen, and CS was designed - based on F01!!! Just like Z9 GT was based on E65 - and not vice versa!!! Yet that's not very well known to general public. And just like Z9 GT was than a matrix for E63 6er, CS will emerge as new 8er ... with some modifications of course.

On the test mules one can see that it will feature the new CS-ish light cluster but if the F01 end having tail lights the shape of the ones on the CS I will be very happy. The latest pictures give me E38 vibes, especially the proportions and stance, so this car has the potential of becoming my favorite bimmer.

Doubt it. This facelifted 7 series includes the interior also. There are spy shots of the interior, door panels to be exact.

Looks really huge and really tall. Are we sure this is the 7 and not the Progressive Activigy Sedan? Either way it looks very interesting.

Ride height seems exaggerated. I'm sure it is either the angle of the photo or just a ploy to hide that the car is the new 7 Series. Either way, it looks absolutely amazing and from the bits and pieces I can see this car has the S Class beat!

Time will tell if it is an S Class beater overall. My opinion so far is that yes, we will have a new class leader. The details of the car look just right compared to the E65 7er. The shark attack front is obvious and the big grille has a huge presence and class to it.

The interior will have to be a major improvement to topple the Audi A8 and the S Class. If this car is as good as the build up and my current thoughts suggests, then we may be looking at my next car with that amazing TT V8...

Also looks like the car will be stunning in black...

I've worked out the ride height issue. That street has a heavy ingress towards the gutter and subsequently the car is tilitng towards that direction which makes the ride height on the side photograph seem excessively high. Either way it seems on more then a foot high judging from the man's lower limbs in the picture above.

Can't wait for the reveal. Has a much more cohesive design then the S Class so far. Very happy they didn't resort to the use of those outlandish pumped wheel arches present on the Mercedes Benz. Head light and front bumper design will be critical if this car is going to be stunning.

I'm very, very interested in this car

This is not a facelift but the next generation 7 Series. It is supposed to present BMW's latest design language so the interior will probably be quite different compared to the current one.
