Re: Bmw Needs To Built M7 No More Copys With B7 - 12-07-2007, 01:08 PM

I think Im going to have to agree with some of "The Artist's" comments here. All that ///M philosophy BS seems to have brainwashed most people. Sadly (IMO) over last decade BMW has been losing their direction. 10 years ago if someone mentioned that BMW should turbo charge the 3 series he would get flamed and hear "its against BMW Philosiphy" crap. The very same thing is going to happen with the ///M 7. Right now everyones saying 'NO! tis against ///M Philosophy and the Alpina B7 is okay" but make no mistake, you will be proven wrong in the not so distant future.

Who invented the Sports sedan? It was BMW. Thats their philosiphy , making luxury cars with the essence of sportiness. Sadly BMW nowadays is more worried about capturing market share with the production of pointless cars such as the X3/X6 which will yield them higher incomes. Its all the greed for money which has made them lose their direction.

BMW is well aware and so are its clients that if you dont buy a BMW merely for its opulence but for its more sportier/entertaining driving personality and most BMW clients are more then willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort for a "sports car feel". So why cant you build an M7? Yes the 7er is big and heavy but so is the 5er. If they can turn the 5er into the sports sedan then they can definitely turn the 7er into a sports sedan too. Cut the crap with the excuses already.

Its already shameful that the car manufacturer that stood out from the crowd for its "sportiness" is the only one amongst its closest rivals to have not built a super car.

Scott, I respect most of your posts and you're a great asset to GCZ but your last post is a typical example of a pointless remark. Its as good as saying that BMW should not make a 4 door M3 because it will drain M5 sales, character, status, etc so save that excuse for the shallow minded.

I would also like to offer my sincere apologies if If I offended anyone but I just had to let this out.

/rant.

I rather see a M7 than an M-X6.

Hello all... this is my first post...(I couldn't resist.)

BMW is smart.
The only purpose that an MB S63 or S65 serves is as a marketing ploy. They sell such a small amount of those models in proportion to the rest of the S-Class line, & the net profit on them compared to say, the S550, is ridiculously small. They want people to get the impression that they're buying a $120,000 car for some $40K+ less simply by settling for a less powerful engine.

BMW doesn't need to pull that kind of crap because its just not worth it....everyone already knows that their cars have very sporty engine characteristics compared to the competition. So they target that market with as much volume as they can & that's it. They don't need to prove anything with models like the B7, which incidentally, I've never even seen on the road once yet. Maybe its different in Europe, but I really can't see a big future for that model here in the U.S.

just becuase I like BMW I dont need to have a performance car for all models, particulary not the large ones. M5 and M6 should be the largest and heaviest M. If they want to make a performance cars of 7er, X5, X6 just name them IS and do not give them a highreeving engine.

If the 7 Series is the top of the range BMW car then why shouldnt ///M have the same top of the range car... BMW need a M7 to compete and to use as a "halo' car due to there lack of a supercar... They need something special which they are lacking atm... I don't buy into all this brand heritage nonsense... they've gone against there supposed brand rules before why can't they do it again....

I dont see the point and I dont think a M7 would sell well. People would rather buy a AMG I know I would becuase I dont want a highreeving concept in a big luxury car then I prefer the engine from AMG.

Hurl a twin turbo V12 in there then... im sure the fanboys will get all huffy and puffy for awhile and evantually realise how good the engine and car is forgot they ever cared that BMW made a M car without a high revving engine... it wouldnt be the end of the world
