Current V8 diesel is not sporty oriented enough. We'll have to wait till NGV8D - coming to power F01 7er, X6 & F5. Etc. BMW are very strict when it comes to driving dynamics: big diesels are not the way to go.

Also V8 diesel models sales (7er) are very tiny. It's more about image.
Also almost no demand for V8 diesel in (new) X5. Thus BMW are considering not to offer it at all. I6 VTT engine is much more appreciated & demanded, and it will be offered soon.

Mind that Europe is main diesel market, and here big diesels do not sale well. Perhaps when diesel models enter US market with 2008 we'll then soon seen models bigger diesels too.

What BMW strives to is EfficientDynamics. While V8, V10 or even V12 diesel still sound like oxymoron.

Well, why a 4.5 with 330 HP engine in the first place ?!

The 3 litre could probably be tweaked to deliver such power and torque.
How about a tri-turbo 3 litre ?!

In next years I6 VTT will be tweaked to deliver approx 300PS. While standard I6 diesel will deliver just under 250PS.

Yes, BMW bet on multi-turbo diesel tech - the best way to achieve Efficient Dynamics. Also, who said NGV8D will be 4.5L or more? Eg. 3.6L or 4.0L V8 diesel with (multi)turbo tech will do just fine. Imagine 350 or even 400PS. With excellent fuel consumption.

What about 635i (petrol)? Will there be one? If positive, is it going to replace the 630i or just be an addition to the engine range?
