Re: 2009 BMW 6-Series Sport Package

The 6er has become the universally accepted object of affluence on California's coast. It's hard to imagine, but such a product used to be the sole territory of Mercedes-Benz, and to a lesser extent, Jaguar.

I think the 6er has done what the 8er never quite pulled off and I look forward to its next iteration.

Re: 2009 BMW 6-Series Sport Package

Yes, 6er has been a great success for BMW AG.

Initially the car was meant to be a new 8er (mind Z9 GT concept): based on 7er platform. But the marketing dept. found out there was much more perspective market for the 2dr GT in a segment below 8er.
Therefore they opted for 6er revival - based on 5er platform, positioned between 5er & 7er. And they succeed.
Although the design was too futuristic for its time, lately the design is much more accepted, adored & appreciated.

After pushing 7er (E65/66)even more into luxury territory, and launching the RR cars by BMW Group, BMW AG started to fill the gap between BMW & RR brand. Bentley was missing badly. Aston Martin was eyed, but it either wasn't for sale, or the price was too high. Therefore BMW AG decided to make 2 moves to fill the gap: launch a "baby" Rolls (to compete with Arnage - price wise), and to offer a new "8er" - this time as super-luxury sporty 4dr GT: positioned well above 7er (competing with Bentley Continental family). As well as Z8 coupe-roadster positioned between 7er & GT.

Since F10 5er is going even more sportier, so will go the 6er as well. New 6er will be a tad more sportier yet still retaining the GT personality. It will be closer to eg. Jaguar, Aston, Maserati.

While the 4dr GT ("new 8er") will be the new BMW brand flagship, a step towards RR brand.

5er ... PAS, X5 ... X6 ... 6er ... 7er SWB ... 7er LWB, Z8 ... "new 8er GT" ... baby Rolls: RR Silver ghost family: sedan ... coupe ... cabrio) ... RR Phantom family (sedan ... coupe ... cabrio)

Re: 2009 BMW 6-Series Sport Package

I really like the Sport Package for BMW 6 Series. But I cannot understand why BMW offers no M Package for 6 Series Something between the normal 6 Series and M6.

The 5 Series with M Package looks so hot, in my opinion even better than the M5.

The new SP is not bad but there is a problem in the interior...

Too much wood!

If this is your only problem, then you can buy it with the Alumnium and everything is perfect. I don't know, which I would prefer. Alumnium is great, but wood is also great and special. Maybe I would go for Individual Piano…or so…

Of course, Ihno. I know that but maybe it's the particular wood type in the picture but it really made me feel sick. With black piano wood it would probably look very attractive.

Re: 2009 BMW 6-Series Sport Package

The problem basically is not that there is so much wood, but the fact that is concentrated in the center console, and left and right of it there is only dark plastic. So (at least in this photo) it doesn't look that good..

Re: 2009 BMW 6-Series Sport Package

M6 CS

Competition package for BMW M6 Coupé. As a Top sportsman on the way to new Bestmarken in particular BMW M6 Coupé presents itself in model year 2009. With the new Competition package succeeds it to the Zweitürer to sharpen its profile aligned consistently to high speed further. The Competition package consists of a again co-ordinated chassis including setting lower by 12 millimeters to the foremost and 10 millimeters at the rear axle, adapted Chassis monitoring systems and aluminum smithy wheels in the double spoke Design. In the handling the modifications are to be felt clearly, and also optically contain the Competition package salient differentiations. A again outlined hood, which exhibits two raised precision lines, points to the increased drivingdynamic qualities.
