One thing is to make it work on a table and other thing is to make it work on a production car..simple as that..Just look what happend to Sabb variable compression ratio technology(if I´m wrong,I´m sorry)..Do you see it anywhere ?It sounded excellent and production ready and it failed to reach production..too bad

i belive they have worked on this engine for a long time
its pretty far into its life when it hits a concept car..
im certain we will see this in production
you can not compare MB to SAAB.. cause saab has had some serious financial and owner probs of lately.. so there could be millions of reasons to why its not for sale..
plus NOW the time is right for hybrids

Don't forget that VW/Audi is also working on the Diesotto; they are not as advanced as MB though, and their motor need special synthetic petrol to work. The Diesotto of MB uses conventionnal petrol.

As Artist said, you can't compare Mercedes-Benz with Saab.

1) MB invented the car
2) MB made the first Diesel on a production car
3) MB creates the DiesOtto

I would love to see DIESOTTO concept to see light of a day,belive me..It would be an revolutionary step forward in car technology for sure but I´m somehow sceptic about it..
And about comparing Sabb with MB..as I see it,it´s not the name of company that makes good inventions to make it´s way into production..it´she engineeres and scientist working for the company.I bet that development teams are atleast on equal know-how level IMO.
But,yes,SABB´s financial problems may have lead them to abadon their project,I agree..And that is what makes me sad,really .
