Engine feels very much the same exept the part where you get the extra torque and hp, you really feel the difference there (after driving the old 4.4 for so long, I can really tell). But overall, the engine characteristics are very much the same. Which of course is good for the award winning engine.
The interior was overall the same too, but there are software changes, different color schemes and things like that...

I've noticed the extra torque immediately. I drove a 645Ci Convertible before placing the order for the 650i. The difference is not much, but definetely a welcome upgrade.
