Motor Trend had an article a couple of years ago on a souped up Corvette that did 0-60 in 1.9 seconds. I'll see if I can find more info when I get home.

Of course for ultimate speed you have your top fuel NHRA dragsters that can do 0-330mph in less than 4.5 seconds.
