love it with M package..its the sportiest car in the class..
without M package it looks to be honest terrible from the front..
love the rear..no matter what package..

interior are as all other BMW interior..not to bad..no to god.. make wrong colour combo..and it will looks like the most crappy interior... or make the right..and it will look very handsome..

all in all a nice car still.. i would take it over the A6 everyday..wich was fresh to me about 30mins and then it looked old..
and the E class is just plain old..but still elegant..
so today i would wait for the FL 5er and get that in this class.. or the new E class..but thats further away i guess

Oh, and one more thing, regarding BMWfreak's first post on this subject:

"I don't know why I came to the realization now on this issue...."

I don't know either man. The car has been out for years now, and I came to my conclusion about a week after I first saw the car. It's just silly it took you so long to realise what you don't like about the car. Sorry. Either you want to make some sort of conversation here because the forum has been horribly slow, or you just make this up (or you never see the car, which I find hard to believe).

Klier do you want to start a problem with me? Seriously? Get over your BMW fanaticism. Just Me is a BMW fan and he is a nice person.

What a person cannot change his/her opinion a week, month, years down the line? Completely ignorant and irrational from your part to say such a thing. I don't just start threads to see if we can get something 'moving.' So, watch your mouth! We know that you are a fanatic of BMW and so is Just me, but for once learn from him and not yourself!

In reference to you saying about whether I see the car or not, someone in my family owns one and if you know anything about Miami, it is the central for hot cars so yea the 5er is EVERYWHERE.

I liked the 5er when it came out, but just like Just Me pointed out something he didn't like about the E39, I can point something out about the current 5er. I think that the E39 was a longer living design than the current one. Seeeing the new A6 and other cars introduced in other german manufacturing companies does affect my opinion and I am sure it does to everyone as well. The new S class for example is strikingly good looking which shows the oldness of the 7er already. So, in retrospect one is always updating their opinion about a particular car and model.

Tell me, why is it that Just Me see's problems now with the old E39? I thought he loved that car. I thought it was his favorite. Well, a newer 5er came around that he so happens to like very much. Now he can see the flaws or outdatedness of the older 5er(e39) when compared to the newer 5er. Is that a problem? I am sure you can point out things that you don't like about the E39 now. That would probably be because the car is old already.

BTW my name is Michael not BMWFREAK.

Klier sometimes people change their opinions or need time to decide what they like and what not. What you find bad or mediocre at one point you can find it beautiful some time later.
For example i used to like the 3 door A3 more than the Sportback some time ago but now it's the opposite.

I don't think that Michael started this conversation to put down BMW simply because he is not that type of guy.

Re: 5er issues

Back on track, the 5er never grew on me either, but the more sportier and agressive it looks via sports package / M series the more it looks good too me. But at times a plain looking 5'er doesn't do it for me.

Re: 5er issues

It is normal for people to have a different opinion through the release of the vehicle and a couple of years down the road. That has happened to me many times, in particular Toyota. A new model comes out and I hate it and then it grows on me..however over the last couple of years i've gone for a more strict judging when it comes to deciding whether I like the exterior of a vehicle, i'm now more "Dislike it" or "Love it". The E60 5er is a vehicle which I have never liked from day one and still don't like it and it's not because I'm anti-Bangle. Then they're are vehicles which I constantly dislike and like, the Lexus GS being one of them.

I know around the site people get the impression i'm a big Mercedes fan, which I am, but before the new generation of BMW's were released, BMW would have been my overall choice.

When the E39 M5 was released in 1999 (2000?) I loved it and I loved it every single day until it went out of production, in fact I still love it and would love to have one. Personally the E60 really does little for me, I dislike all angles and the detailing aspect. IMO iI looks like a bunch of crazy, mis-match lines and strange bulbous proportions slapped together. When eqquiped with the Sport package or M5 kit I feel the same way, the proportions are all too strange for me and I would agree with what Michael said earlier, the headlamps swooping upwards conflicts with the body kit which Is suppose to ground the vehicle (I think that's what you said, anyways that's what I think)

The E39 though..still love It. Doesn't look dated at all in my opinion.

Each his own, i'm sure some people could say same about the Zonda

Re: 5er issues

To me the 5er falls into the category such as if you see the 7er , 6er and Z4 - All controversial designs but definetely head turners. I like the 5er because it does look modern and futuristic at the same time , If BMW did a modern update of the E39 it would not look current at this time frame compared to the E60, Look at the Z4 when you see this it looks squat it looks futuristic and appealing it looks like a Roadster not a chopped coupe in which BMW went back and added a roof to the Roadster to become a Coupe for the Z4.
In hindsight the Mission has been accomplished . Chris Bangle wanted the next generation i.e current cars to be headturners and have a design that will still look fresh, modern and current even to the middle of it it's life scale.
The upcoming facelift which will be seen in February continues with minimal changes but the overall look stays the same. Again the 5er is one of those cars that does not need the all singing M5 or Sport-packet to enhance it's looks equip it with the stylish 18" wheels , Silver Grey or similar paintwork and it definetely stands out from the crowd.

I agree with your opinion about the sport-package, To me though the 5er doesn`t look any more sporty than the new f/l E-Class sports package. Both are just about equal.

As for the interior yes, it really isn`t the most versatile with different color options. I believe this is because of it`s hard edges and inorganic shapes.
So solid business like colors must be chosen.
(An Audi or MB interior looks good with just about any color, thats a given.)
