Too many Americans are too dumb to realize they don't need an SUV. Shame, because those of us w/ more than half a brain miss out on cars like thsi. | | | | | Devotee

Well lOl, whats the point in having a hi-powered grocery go getter and family hauler when you can`t use this (or other vehicles like this) year around.
Give me the SUV anytime. I might still take a hi-powered SUV as well, point is I`m being driven by 4-wheels, your not with the M5 Touring. | | | | | Connoisseur

So you might want to reform the question, "Well, lOl, what's the point of having a wagon?" I could give you many many many a reason for taking a wagon over an S.U.V. like; less weight = better fuel economy, variety of drive options be it AWD, RWD, FWD, variety of engine choices that gets put down more effectively (far more effectively than you could ever think for an S.U.V.), same versatility as you'd get in an S.U.V. (how many people in this country truly need seven seats???), performance and handling are top notch (an S.U.V.'s dream), lower total cost to own. Point is, S.U.V.'s are an irrational answer to a question that was already answered. | | | | | Enthusiast

Absolutely brilliant point!!!!!
In Australia, we have an aging population. Basically, a lot of people are falling into the pensioner bracket, not many people are being born, and families get getting smaller. Yet, houses are getting larger and cities get even more crowded, and sales of SUVs are are growing.
What's the absolute point in all this? why not get a wagon where the car is not as big, drinks less fuel, has a lower centre of gravity, has greater performance and offers as much space. Only 90% of SUV buyers actually go "off-road" and use it's 4wd function.
I say bring the M5 touring on, cars like this should be celebrated. | | | | | Aficionado

It was much more difficult than they anticipated Because the rear end of the Touring is technically very different from the sedan....almost a completely different car.
Anyways, bring it on ASAP! If the M5 Touring is here, we will have the 5.0 V10 in a sedan, coupe, convertible and Touring. Wow! | | | | | Devotee

lOl, I didn`t see the need to mention wagon since it was the M5 Touring we were discussing. My point wasn`t about wagons but rather, who needs a 500hp wagon. Quote: |

Thing is we American believe SUVs` are more hip (simply look better doing the job than wagons. (Wagons sort of give a soccer mom image. How many single dudes or chics do you see driving a wagon)
But again my point wasn`t about wagons in general but a 500hp one, it`s extremely pointless but if your in the market you can be as pointless as you want to be.
