BMW reckon that they have the ultimate product in the sedan and the Touring is a very logical step.
An M5 Touring will eclipse losing market share for BMW allbeit a very small percentage of market share - all to aware that customers wanting a high performance wagon leave to our competitors when BMW who have the ultimate performance sedan cannot provide for their customers. We can no longer stand by and watch that, This will no longer be the case.
The wagon will have a significant weight increase because of it's purpose but BMW are working to make this a benefit to the overall handling of the Touring. By placing more weight over the rear of the car will allow the responses to be tuned for sharper handling than it's competitors.
For the M5 touring they are still tuning the suspension at the moment because it is more compact than the sedan's.
Both the BMW M6 Cabrio and the BMW M5 Touring will be unveiled before the end of this year , Although not definite BMW are said to be unveiling something @ Tokyo later in october.
The M5 touring has just recently had it's video and photoshoot along the banks of loch Lomond in Scotland . The car took advantage of the winding roads along the loch while challenging a powerboat.
So , Watch out for upcoming news with the official details.
M5 Touring will be for european customers only - as of now export to the US is not expected to happen as performance wagons are less popular than performance sedans .
