It's like somebody barfed up a stomachfull of bad ideas and a poor M5 was in the way. A textbook example of how to take an amazing sub-exotic and make it look like somebody's shop project.
It's rare enough that you find a car design to be more based more around function than aesthetics, despite all the propaganda you read in one P.R. after another. The CLK DTM is a perfect example, nigh from being a road going carbon copy of the original DTM race car, albeit a few modifications to make it more feasible for roadgoing use, every surface whether it be an unappologetic bulging wheel flare or freakishly tall rear wing, is there for a functional purpose - not so much a function of being aethetically pleasing in the eyes of onlookers. This Hamann project on the other hand looks to be very much the latter, an aesthetic experiment w/ out cause or justification to make some sort of brash statement about what the company can do; the purpose of any and all tuners.

I actually like the body kit and the upgrades. I wouldn't do it to my M5 if I had one but I could see why someone would. I actually like the DTM styled fenders and the black light weight rims. Pretty attractive package overall, although I could never see why anyone would pay money to make their M5 look worse (even though still decent). Ill take engine upgrades....
Ill tell you what, it does look quite a bit better than the AC snitzchner (sp?) M5 which I think is absolutely hideous.
