Any comparison test with the current 550i and 535d (286 hp)?

Not yet.

This 545i vs 535d test was posted at M5BOARD in order to compare these two cars in terms of flexibility(petrol vs diesel) and i have found an interesting result:

Compare 545i with CLS55(450nm vs 700nm) in Sport Auto:

80-120km/h in 4/5 gear for 545i 5.9/8.4
80-120km/h in 4/5 gear for CLS55 5.9/8.7

The test conditions for 545i were worse and the temperature was also 8 degrees more.

I think this is interesting! A series BMW with 250nm less torque is as flexible as a huge grunty CLS55!

This really shows the advantage of 6-speed over 5-speed transmission.(gearing vs torque)

Exactly, does this not only show how high or low geared a car is?

Yes,exactly shows how a tally 2.65:1 final drive ratio and a 5 speed tranny can have a negative effect on flexibility.

6.6 secs 0-100 km/h is too slow for the 545i. Under normal conditions, it should be around 5.6 secondes 0-100 km/h time...but I read the conditions were worse for the 545i test? So that could explain....
Either way, 545i any day...sorry Tycoon

And then the new diesel (306hp biturbo) vs twinturbo 4.4 V8 in the F10 5er But a better test would be 550i TT vs 550d (tri-turbo)

No, not at all. Might as well be 545d, but it was sort of established in another thread that it will probably be 550d/750d, since the others are named 730d and 740d...

Yes,I agree with you because 540i (E39) 6-speed could achieve 6.2s 0-100km/h easily in many road tests with 286hp.

Factory time is 5.8 seconds 0-100 km/h, I believe...
