I personally like this way more then any BMW (Other then the new 7 series and X6) especially the Z4 and M3.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | With all due respect EnI, some of us here aren't utter morons, so I hope that your comments are directed at broad sentiment and not particular individuals. This car has no practical purpose, not does it have any aesthetic merit. It merely exists by way of being different and promising fat profit margins. People who'll buy them? I say whoever they are, their motives will be questionable, more so, borderline distasteful if you ask me. It's one thing for people to discuss the merits of a car vs. its competitors without ever bringing to question what its purpose is. But when the actual purpose of a car is called into question; now then, clearly, the credibility of the maker is at stake. This is not about being anti-BMW. No sir, not me. I can name several vehicles from direct competitors to BMW that have equally questionable purpose. Sometimes there are just cars that this planet - regardless of the target audience - simply does not need.

Porsche has made a niche car too, the Panamera but they have explained it in a simple way using a few words "A sports car for four". Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's a low-volume niche car. BMW say expected sales are at 10% of total 5-series vehicle (= sedan, wagon, crossover) sales. Aprox. 10% GT, 20% Touring, 70% sedan. So, somewhere between 15k to 25k per year. Worldwide. Regarding PAS explanation: I've said it all in the spy & concept thread ... I won't repeat myself. It's all written there already. If interested - go find my older posts. Last edited by EnI; 05-21-2009 at 10:37 AM. |

WHY NOT RATHER GONE FOR THE X7 ?????????????????????? G-Class is doing well......A new niche....Mmmmm....Quantum Mechanics or not this project could ruin BMW Group's cash reserves. 8 series???? Rolls, LAmbo, Porche...all doing fine in these HARSH financial times. 8 or X7 rather than this! I wrote a letter to Herr. Schrempp back in 99' about the HUGE & UGLY mistake of merging with Chrysler.....I WAS RIGHT! | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ok, here's a question for you... would you buy this over a Merc E-Class. Seriously. Not an E-Class Coupe or a CLS or any other aspirational model. Just the E-Class, which, I know you're not madly fond of.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm surprise that BMW fans are turning against their own product. Yes, why not get a X5, X6 or regular 5 wagon...but the car still isn't bad. The front really is sort of a toned down CS concept, which some of you all seemed to love. Is this just because it's a hatchbach? We really can't actually be mad about the functionality of the car can we?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, I believe those vehicles should have come first. A CL and GL rival from BMW is a more pressing matter then a 5 GT, but hopefully that will be BMW next step.....Or maybe their just going to kill the 5 series wagon (which would make better sense for the 5 GT).
