Cia Performance Car Of The Year 2006

Cars in Action’s magazine’s 2006 Performance car of the year has been dominated by BMW's monster new M5.

The 373kW 520Nm M5 sailed into the finals from the thirteen-car field comprising the top performance cars launched in 2005 and cantered to an easy Performance car of the year win from the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Noble M400.

"M5 is the epitome of the modern motorcar according to Cars in Action," publisher Michele Lupini admitted.

"It has the iron-fisted performance to destroy Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis and the velvet glove to rival its best limousine world rivals that makes little boys dream about and grown men cry for…"

Boasting a technical specification that seems to be more akin to a Star Wars fighter craft, the 5.0-litre V10 powered M5 drives an also F1-like robot-shift seven-speed gearbox and the electronic and technical wizardry that'd impress Luke Skywalker. Its looks and luxury would even keep Darth Vader happy.

"Performance car of the year boasted a dazzling array of the best musclecars released in the past year," Cars in Action Editor Jason Woosey added.

"But where most of the rest were strong in some areas and let down in others, M5 essentially failed to disappoint in any department — it’s a class act that marched to an emphatic Cars in Action Performance Car of the Year win in 2006…"

The February edition of Cars in Action magazine is on shelf now and boasts a comprehensive review of the 2006 Performance car of the year contestants, finalists and the winner, along with a broad spread of other fine motoring reading.
