The Congress of Surgeons in Australia has asked for the banning of all vehicles over 180kW in australia. They have also asked for the driving age to be increased to 20. Also, ESP standard on every single vehicle sold in australia.
Teenages as young as 16 can drive on Austalian roads! It's way to young in my opinion.
RIP - One silly mistake has cost these 5 young men there lives. Look after there souls and there loved ones lord Jesus Christ | | | | | Expert

The kid had obviously been watching too much Top Gear and wanted to live his dreams of reaching the car's top speed. | | | | | GCZ's High Court

I would change that rule slighty and ban all performance cars from drivers under a certain age. Or you must have 2 years driving experience before you can drive a car over a certain performance point. I would go with HP/Tonne or something similar to that.
We have this rule were I live, Queensland, Australia. The rule is pointless it is currently because people as young as 16 can still drive cars that get from 0-100km in less then 5 seconds. Way to fast and powerful for some of that age. Something must be done because far to many 16-25 are dieing on the roads!!! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to CorpusCallosum For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

ESP clearly should be standard.
And I am for a double driver's licence.
At 18, you pass the driver's licence and are allowed to drive cars under, say 150cv.
After 2 years without serious crash, you can pass the "big man driver's licence" for more powerful cars. And to do that you should have some schooling about the risks of speed, and how to control a car that begins to loose grip, not to brake hard in a corner, what counter-steering means. And a practice exercise with special track/car to see what it feels when a car spins or refuses to steer.
It would at least make sure that young cocks don't take powerful cars without knowing anything about how to drive a fast car. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to coolraoul For This Useful Post: | | | Expert

Some responsibility lyes with the parents. You can't hand over the keys for your M5 over to an 18 years old kid for him to enjoy with his 4 buddies, without having taught him the principles of driving a powerful car. Peer pressure, ignorance or irresponsibility are generally the forces behind stupid "accidents" like these. He had no business driving on a air strip without permission or the expertise to know the length or the runway and the breaking distance of the car. The M5 was obviously not a suitable car for him, and if he would have been driving a Ford Focus this would never have happened. | | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to Centurion For This Useful Post: | | | GCZ's High Court

I 'm 33 years old and sometimes i remember myself 3-4 years ago driving much faster than i should , overtaking slower cars from the right lane (wich is not only illegal but also dangerous) , passing traffic lights with red (at night when i saw no other car) in the road ect.
My point is that even grown up guys often do stupid things , let alone 18 year old teenagers. I wouldn't drive a 500 hp car even now. | | | | | Fanatic

The truth is that both parties (father and son) were irresponsible and stupid.
You just don’t give a 507 Bhp car to an 18-year old driver who is inexperienced behind the wheel of ANY car, let alone a 507 Bhp car. Then you have the 18-year old trying to impress his friends without any knowledge about the car he was driving.
You just can’t help thinking that a tragedy was bound to happen at any moment. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Kowalski For This Useful Post: | | |
