The new 5er will be more in line w/ the CLS and Panamera than the E-class or A6, but still a sports sedan. Correct me if I'm wrong Eni, but that's how I interpreted both yours and Scotts info??? | | | | | Contributor

But do not think next 5er will look exactly so coupeish as CLS. It won't be a coupe. It will be classic sedan with extreme sporty appearance - imagine E-class & CLS all-in-one-car.
There will be still much headroom in the backseats. But since the car will be a bit longer, wider, a bit lower & much longer wheelbase, the roof will be more sloping & greenhouse a bit narrower - contributing to more coupeish & sportier look - but not so extreme as CLS.
This general guide by marketing people have been already confirmed by Board, development engineers are already working on solutions, designers will get the precise technical directions soon.
As said before: BMW won't make 4-door sedanish-coupe ala CLS, but will make next 5er & SWB 7er sedans more sportier and a bit more coupeish, so the CLS-like vehicle would be redundant. Instead BMW will offer 5-door X6 sport activity coupe. | | | | | Connoisseur

I really like this idea of a SWB 7er with sporty appeal ... and a more coupe-like looking 5er. Nice!IMHO, the 5er already is a blend of coupe and traditional sedan (ofcourse not to the extreme of the CLS), but it's short frontal overhangs and how & where the C-pillar meets with the rest of the car... it looks kinda coupe-like.
As for what Eni said earlier about Huck having no clue of what the car may look like since its debut is so far off. I agree. That 3er PS is an absolute shocker! Compare it to the actual E90 and damn, that PS isn't even fit to be a Kia let alone a BMW. (Im not bashinh Huck' though, he does some amazing quality work)

Hey Eni... any word on the E60 5er facelift? Is it just going to be comestic changes, maybe a tweak here and there, and any idea of when the facelift might come around ?

More improvement will be done under the skin (new engines, transmissions, suspension settings, brakes, xDrive + DSC, etc).
I was told some new lighting tech will be introduced - whatever that means. Daytime LEDs perhaps, or just CELIS LED strips in the back?
FL E60 is coming in the spring 2007.

Didn't know where to post these guys, hopefully it is the right place.
Eni: based on your latest description I assume this is accurate somehow .. sportier glasshouse, wider , cleaner and longer a little bit. Almost an evolution of the current design. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Maserati For This Useful Post: | | | Executive

That looks better than the one now.. in non M mode..

but its still kinda hot | | | | | Contributor
