I think they are raising the bar a little bit .. I think this is the 550i with 4.4TT benchmarked with the current M5 ...

Mind that power&drive-train control / setting will spread from F01 into other models as well: 5er, 6er, PAS etc.

So, benchmarking Sport & Sport+ modes to various M5 settings is logical.

Also: M5 can either produce 400, or 500hp.
So, benchmarking a N64 V8 TT to S85 V10 NA is also logical.

So, to make the new M5 better from the current one, the standard new 5er chassis & body should already be better than the current M5. Since the standard chassis & body are the platforms for the M-version. Therefore all the benchmarking.

F10 will be benchmarked to different models as well - especially for final fine set-ups: XF, FL A6, new E-class, F01, FL Quattroporte. BMW men also record Panamera & W212 drives & times on the Ring - so they can compare it to the ones of F10.

That is good news..When F10 comes out I think no car in its class will come close to its driving dynamics and combination of sporty and comfortable ride.

J/K... It looks much bigger than the current one. Proportions look very good so far.

Looks like you can see the final trim around the grille (albeit without the chrome).
