Actually, compare it to the CLS rear-door, it's nearly identical.

Good thing is, BMW won't call the 5er a coupe. If you want to see the gradual coupe-like transformation of the 5er, just compare the Hoffmeister kink on the E39 5er that klier posted with that of the F10 test-car! A totally wicked change from restrained elegance to all-out sporting charisma!

I was also told the new BMW design makes the cars VERY sleek, long, straight ... Very sporty elegant. Think of E24 or E38 sporty elegance. With a significant touch of modernism. Guys who have seen CS Concept IRL will know what I'm talking about.

The "bloaty" times are over ... "Sleeky" times are coming ... F01 will be the first step ...

So ... long, sleek, and sharp shapes are coming back. Many long & sharp straight lines. And ... of course ... the huge kidney grille ...

Like I said before: 5er going more coupe way, while E-class & A6 are not: due not to overlap with CLS & upcoming A7. 5er has no such issue, since there's no 4dr coupe based on 5er platform. 8er will be much bigger & more expensive: positioned above 7er.

Therefore 5er is moving away from E-class & A6, coming closer to Jaguar XF (and according to rumors new Infiniti M & Lexus GS are going the same way as well).
