This thing truly is bringing back the spirit of the E39. Just looking at that front end of the E39, it reminds me of the F10, much more-so than even the E60.

I always thought "if BMW made an evolved E39, it would have been a killer", when they failed to do so with the E60..... Now they have.

Maybe we are seeing what we want to see, but I agree 100% that it resembles the E39. And that's fantastic.

Here we can compare perfectly, the exhausts!
I'm not sure, they both look good:

The two-on-one-side setup is more like BMW usually does, but the 535i setup looks sweet too

Itīs not a problem with the location. I prefer how the 335i Coupe looks than how the 330i does. Itīs jut that piece between the two pipes, much longer on the 530i/530d real bumper.

Oh and by the way, two more things I would like to say. First of all, having seen the F10 in silver, I can say that I HATE every single champagne-like colour, on any brand. Specially on the BMWs are they are using it on the press pics of their latest models, such as the F01, 5er GT, and Z4. This colour has completly no personality.

The second one is regarding the mirrors. I though they were gong to be entirely colored, without the piece of plastic on the down part that has the 7er ones. I didnīt like that because looked more prestigious than the ones on the 7er. Now we can say that the mirrors are exactly the same as on the F01.

Overall, the sideprofile, the interior, the Hoffmeister Kink, and a few more details have a lot in common with the F01 7er.

EDIT: I forgot to say, EnI, Scott, any confirmation about what we are going to see the 23rd?.

looks a bit to like lexus with the twin exit exhaust. I personally prefer the one sided set up

I could never do exhaust on one side and like the rear of my car personally, doesn't work for me at all. Gotta be dual, one tip each side, or 2.

In fact, this true dual would be more reason than any probably as to why I'd opt for a 535 over a 530, that's how weird I am about that, and how much a "deal breaker" it is to me.

P.S: It would be nice if they painted the whole mirror black, I never get why luxury cars leave parts of the rear-views blacked, I know it saves costs, but to a detail obsessed enthusiast, it leaves a bit to be desired IMO. The 212 also has a blackened area.

Autocar: Next BMW M5: full details

Quote:
BMW’s M division has kicked off development of the fifth-generation M5, 25 years after the first model went on sale in the UK.
The new performance saloon, known internally under the codename F10M and due to make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt motor show in 2011, is set to mark a major departure from its predecessors by adopting turbocharging for the first time.

I think we are really close to the big moment. Reports say that BMW may release first info & pics just in time for the LA Auto Show.

This baby looks very promising!

According to the Autocar article, the F10M will not be getting a slushbox but rather a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. It will obviously be commensurately strengthened to cope with the 700-odd Nm of torque.

Other interesting info is that certain bodyparts are rumoured to be made from carbon fibre, the long-standing Macpherson strut front suspension gives way to double wishbones in the front (cool) and that the steering now moves from feelsome hydraulics to kitchen appliance electric-assisted. [You can gather that I'm not a fan of such.]

I'm especially interested to see how BMW handles the covering and cooling of its two vee-located turbos. Some cooling slats on the bonnet per chance?
