These are the numbers for the actual V10, I am pretty sure of that.
Revving has no interest for a diesel, its construction makes that its power comes from the mid-range. And I see no reason for BMW to make its M5 diesel, really it makes no sense.
And there is no way a diesel suddenly could do 10,000rpm and 500+ hp when it is totally sci-fi today. You can't do such improvements so fast.
Furthermore neither Scott nor EnI heard about that...
Really, it is neither technically possible nor makes it sense to make a diesel M5. Unless, of course, BMW wants to kill both its M5 and its M-division.
If they wanted to do really sporty diesel, they would first make a lot of concept-cars around this, and they would begin with a 535 Sd, you see, or a 335 SEd, or something like that, a special sporty edition to make us accept the idea of a "race-diesel".
There is no way BMW would suddenly present the new M5 and oh surprise! it is a diesel. No way. It would be self-murdering to act like that without a massive preparation.
Look at the R8, noises since a year, concept-car, etc...and it is far from revving 10,000rpm. And the R8 is not only diesel, it is also petrol.
Furthermore, Audi does it because
1) they won Le Mans with diesel, and
2) they have to find their own way to distinguish themselves from Porsche, Mercedes, Lambo and Cie.
BMW is perfectly established with the M5, so they won't take any risk. And if they prepar a super-sporty-diesel it will not appear suddenly out of nowhere in the M5.
