Re: 2010 BMW 5er (F10): spy pics & info

Mark my words ... again:

F10 5er will be a real b.i.t.c.h. !!!

Mind that MB & Audi won't go as sporty with their E-class & A6 - due to CLS & A7 models, so F10 5er will definitely stand out more than ever.

And btw ... F5 PAS is sitting on 5er F10 LWB platform (designed for Chinese market).

And to answer some doubts about more coupeish nature of F10 --- as I said earlier: do not expect CLS-like greenhouse, but more coupeish stance than E60 - as klier said: check the roof line again - there's very short flat part, the roof is indeed very curvy / coupeish.

It looks like BMW is going for a front mid-engine placement this time. Seriously sporty dynamics will be the result.

Won't the coupish shape reduce some cabin space or head room for rear seats?

Poverty is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: 2010 BMW 5er (F10): spy pics & info

Over the last five years or so, diesels have improved considerably and I believe that they will overtake petrol on the performance side eventually. A friend of mine works for BMW and he told me that the new M5 will be a diesel (V10). The motor will spin up to 8500RPM rectricted for the production model. Testing has been with the motor spininng up to 10500RPM with no problems and according to him bench testing has been successful with 12500RPM

Taken from another forum. Lets all begin laughing on 3 lol.

You know, I'm pretty sure that this thing about a V10 revving to 10,500, and even more than 12,000 but restricted to 8,500 for reliability reason, are for the current V10. The current v10 can revv to 10,000 with an acceptable reliability (but not enough for the market), and could run to more than 12,000 if durability was not a real problem.

For some reason I am a bit skeptical about this information. I am not saying that it may not be possible, I strongly think it will be an enormous challenge to deliver the numbers you are talking about with a diesel.
We shall see...
