Because nobody has a clue. Especially not guys like Lehmann & Schulte.
C'mon today anyone can make his own interpretation of any future car. Of course it's the easiest to chop some existing model / concept - yet that doesn't mean the real car will look like that.

Oh, dear! Eg. Lehmann is even so clueless he doesn't even know what kind of general shape the car will posses. Remember his X6 impressions - he made it a van!!!:

i would hate for the bangle butt to disappear, for some reason i see it as a stable of BMW premium design, it can be altered in subtle nuances and variations, but it should by no means be removed

Thank you for bringing that up Eni! I love it when we come back to old renderings, only to realize that these supposed experts were just shooting in the dark.

I think it's safe to assmue that nobody knows that the next 5er is going to look like, perhaps including BMW top brass. Get me if I'm wrong, but I think we're at the stage where final designs are probably still being decided upon.

Really blows me away - the impending release of a new 5er. I remember it was the E60 reveal that brought me to German Car Fans to begin with. I never thought I'd be part of an online community until then.

Isn't a new 5 due early 2009?

E60 was presented in March 2003 so the F10 is more likely due late 2009 (at earliest) or spring 2010.
