CM: Countryman will be the name for the crossover -unless something goes fatally wrong in the registration process (since the trademark registration is still in progress) ... While for the AWD drive either All4 or Go4 trademark is considered (analog to BMW xDrive) - registration also still in progress. Since MINI plans to offer Countryman as either FWD or AWD model (analog to BMW X1). ![]() BMW often registers several possible trademark before choosing one for the marketing use (eg. ActiveHybrid vs hDrive ih / dh; or Hydrgen 7 vs H7 etc). | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Oh EnI, now you are online, I was wondering how will the M pack look on this new F10 5er. The last M Pack we´ve seen is the one on the F01, and I have to say that, even when the new front bumper looks so good, the rear one doesn´t look that fine with those chrome pieces on it. What about the F10 one?. And about the M5, Acott pointed the possibility that the new M5 will have the same front end than the M6, as the X5 M with the X6 M and the M3 Sedan with the M3 Coupe. Is there any news about this?. |

![]() | I remember when the E39 launched, how just giant it was in its reception (at least to what I noticed). If you had any BMW's, it must have been a total "I need to have this" car, as it was such an improvement over anything that came before it, and even seemed to refine the idea and look of the then-current 7'er. I remember in High School, my parents had BMW's, and I kept bugging them to get that 5. Same couldn't be said about the E60, it had a different "task" of course, which polarizing comments came with the territory, but every now and then a great "no-frills" design comes out that you know will stand the test of time, and is executed so properly, it doesn't look like it's trying too hard. Cars like these are usually either understood by those who admire it, or could be called "boring" by the more "here today, gone tomorrow" opinion-esque people with a more "braggart" sense. I also believe the W211 E-Class has that great quality of what I just described.

I remember when I first saw it how immediately I thought it was beautiful, perfect evolution and refinement of what they had started to embark on with the W210, and even W220, style-wise. E39 was the same deal for me. Side note: My ex step-Dad owned a BMW Dealership, when the first Z3 made it's debut in the James Bond film, he had gotten a model at his lot BEFORE any had gone on Sale, we took it for a spin, WOW, you have never seen people break their necks like they did to see this car. I actually don't nor have ever liked the "Z" Bimmers, but thought it was interesting.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Despite it's revolutionary intent and appearance the E60 has aged rather well, though some of the superfluous detailing still gives a slight twist to the nerves. Better that than to leave one completely uninspired in thought. At the same time I'm anxiously anticipating the seemingly more refined and well rounded F10 5er. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The W212 is the E60 of this generation. That´s for sure. I remember to see my father mouthwatering when he first saw the E39, he previously fell in love with the E34 5er, but this one was perfect, so almost a year after its launch, my parents ordered a 523i. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I guess I am alone in being disappointed with E39 initially. I didn't like the fact that it was all soft and rounded compared to the E34's functional design. Of course I grew to like it a lot later and E39 M5 is still one of my favorite sedans. But E34 is still my favorite 5er. |

![]() | My father ordered a 528i even before official pics were shown! I thought of the car as being the best car ever made, and still love it. We owned 3 E39's: 528i sedan, 525 TDS Touring, 530d Touring LCI.
