I would describe the F10 5er as more evolution of the E60 than revolution.
Unfortunately there is no photoshop artist got any closer but the Autocar does have very similar design details especially to the front headlights , grille and the rear deck which remains similar to the current car except the flanks angle leading the rear lamps to be ledged in to the swage line. Similar to that 5er Coupe interpretation. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to SCOTT27 For This Useful Post: | | | Contributor

The new 5-series will go on sale in March 2009, and is expected to draw heavily on the current model for its styling, resulting in an evolutionary design. A larger grille treatment and greater use of LEDs to give its lighting a more hi-tech and distinguished look.
The BMW is set to grow by 10mm to around 4849mm long, mostly through a stretch in the wheelbase.
In order to prevent weight gain and reduce emissions, BMW will use a developed version of the current model’s aluminium spaceframe front end mated to a steel rear.
The big news under the bonnet is the appearance of a new range-topping 4.4-litre V8 turbo with direct injection. It uses a similar twin-turbo system to BMW’s existing turbocharged 3.0-litre six for more than 400bhp.
BMW and Mercedes-Benz want to ensure that the 5-series and E-class remain at the forefront of safety. Added to the long list of features already found in today’s models will be blind-spot recognition and automatic lane-change detection systems.
Supporting such systems will be electrics capable of linking the systems in one network for faster reactions and a more reliable operation. BMW already has this with its FlexRay arrangement, as used on the X5.
The Efficient Dynamics technology already fitted to the 5-series will be a fundamental part of producing better economy and emissions, and the new model will also be available as a hybrid.
Expect BMW to rival Mercedes' target of 47mpg and 150g/km. | Ooh, I like that picture. Nice. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Amo For This Useful Post: | | | Enthusiast

Yes, i think it will have a slightly understated CS-influenced kidney grille, pretty sure, by the look of the mules, it will not have current kidney grilles..
Have you guys seen the Holden (or Vauxhall or Opel) Commodore? The one they designed in Australia and sold in Australia and New Zealand.. that thing, is a lame copy of BMW.... the big wheel arch, the shape, the hofmeister kink, is a damn copy, i absoutely hate it but in NZ, it is EVERYWHERE! At this moment, the test mule looks a bit like that Holden, especially the side window shape... | | | | | Member

Assuming the new 5 will have the same technology as the X6....we will get a 400 HP, 450 lbft twin turbo V8 with Dynamic Performance Control. If this thing looks like Autocar's picture and has xDrive with DPC driven by a twin turbo V8 that gets 22.5 MPG....I'll buy several just so I don't have to fret over color decisions. | | | | | Enthusiast

And do not forget the new 8-speed automatic gearbox will be more efficient, and will support automatic stop-start feature. | | | | | Fanatic
