Could be that the G35 screams BMW? I did not see the G35 in this PS, maybe because there are no G35:s around here.

Looks interesting... Especially the rear...

Wow, I really don`t know if I like this direction!
If BMW goes with this look the 5er will loose mid-line presence and status in the design alone. It doesn`t look like a 5er at all, more like an overgrown 3-series.

why is this wrong?
the grill is all off!
the bumper is still the same
the lights are snakey but still int une with bagle V1
the rear? no comment

If you’re one of those people that want BMW to get rid of their controversial design language, then these renderings of the next 5-Series, courtesy of Swedish magazine Automotorsport, will probably ring like music to your ears. Personally, I have mixed feelings about BMW’s “Bangle-era” designs. I really dig the Z3, Z4 & 5-Series models, but on the other hand, I absolutely hate the 7-Series and don’t care much about the X3, 1-Series, 3-Series sedan & 6-Series models.

Judging from BMW’s latest - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER concept and what insiders had to say about it, I firmly believe that the Bavarian company will fine-tweak its design language but in no way will they attempt to diminish the controversial factor out of the styling equation. I know these PSs probably aren't anything like what the new 5er will look like, but I think the car looks very hot!

As I look at the PS and the article, I deduced the following:

• There is a strong 3 series influence: the side mirrors are different. One side bears the E90 side mirrors while the other is an E60 side mirrors.
• The rear lights are taken from the E92 and re-tailored.
• The front end of the car looks more like a 3 series on steroids

I wonder why the discontinuity in the bonnet lip.

Front reminds me of Jaguar's new concept..

So BMW wants more coupe like elements in the next 5er. Though I`m not a really huge fan of the currant generation 5er (except the M5) I like the more upright look better. It`s simply more BMW. This low profile would give the 5er a Japanese flavor, more like a Lexus GS if you will.
