To work towards lightness and efficiency must be more of a long term path than 2 ton cars with 500+ bhp.

Now if Scott doesn't want people to criticise him when he gets things wrong, then he shouldn't commit himself with these "prophecies" in the first place. Tycoon has a signiture reminding the "Scott haters" to "read this before posting". Alarm bells would be ringing for me personally if somebody has to have that message as their signiture. (Very emotive term by the way. Why is it if someone doesn't agree with Scott they "hate" him? ).

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Take it for what it is; someone within BMW expressing his view and sharing some of the good stuff. Well, moving on: I like this picture posted by Eni in the 5 GT thread: ![]() I hope this tells us a lot about how the next 5-series will look. It is easier to imagine when you can't see all the rest of the GT. On a side note, I must say that I'm not a reactionist regarding current BMW design, I like almost every late BMW. I like the way they are designed, the cues and the stance. What I have a hard time understanding is why BMW move towads heavier cars instead of making lighter. Maybe it is a smart move, BMW will eventually have to cope with heavy hybrid technology and if all cars are already heavy then they will get away with it. I mean, it is easier to shave off a couple of 100 kgs from something weighting 2,000 kgs than to do the same with a car weighting 1,600 kgs. Those kgs have to come off to accomodate the hybrid technology and in order not to make the first hybrids look like big pigs.

![]() | [quote=SCOTT27;365551]Agreed, so I am not doubting that. What I say is that you have to accept that your desire for the good old days is not registering here in Munich so you can just give it up. To quote Ronald Reagan, "there you go again". I don't have to accept that my view is unimportant to BMW simply because you say so. To the contrary, I guarantee you it is important to them, even if they choose to continue down the Bangle exterior design path. Every customer's opinion matters. To suggest differently is simply sophomoric. No doubt, the information you provide is of interest and value to most here. Your condescending attitude is a different matter. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | @ BS: After being here just month and a half or so, now i'm really curious what was actually the reason of you registering at GCZ... ![]() Of 71 posts, i think 90% of them contain the name Scott. How 'bout actually contributing to this site instead of waiting for Scott to be wrong or trying to prove him wrong and discredit him? My signature ain't wrong or against forum rules and contains one good and highly thanked post related to Scott and the fact that you're not seeing the part where i praise the engine of your car, but you only see Scott, just confirms my above suspicion in the reason of your registration here. So, kindly, mind your own business and don't look at my sig like that. For me it makes sense and it's also to prevent topics getting ruined with discussions like these about Scott. And btw, stick to the subject, please. TIA. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Although I am also realy fond of older BMW cars it's just a fact that if BMW board decides to move on (what they should be doing) the opinion of single people is irrelevant, sales figures is what is important. Only if lots of people react there will be some reaction (like the dashboard leaning towards the driver again, thanks BMW). I don't think anyone has a 'condescending attitude' if he says things the way they are. We aren't able to change the opinion of the BMW board, we have two options take it or leave it... . I think it's a pitty my 3er hasn't got the dash leaning towards me like my E46 had, but the car gives me great driving pleasure, it's steering is sharp and perfect and that is what I like in a car, + the exterior looks great and so I can set aside the minor things I might have liked better in the interior of my car. As for the new 5er I hope it looks like the photoshops we have seen so far, in that case it will be the best looking 5er ever. Competing to the E class will be easy as (and this is my opinion so don't shoot me for it please) it looks awful. It will be realy comfortable I don't doubt that, but if you are looking for the real driving pleasure only a BMW will do for me (apart from the old mini that is). I cant wait to see the first official pics of the new 5er, I'm sure it will rock. ![]() |

Well, I've responded to your questions, but it's not on topic so not sure what I'm supposed to do. Any chance we can have a separate forum to discuss "Scott" as we are not allowed to discuss it anywhere it seems.
