Panamera? Nope, the car is going to be launched in close to a year so it's too late for testing using a different car's body.

The car seem to have a shorter wheel base than the M5 and the roll cage suggest that it's most likely a two seater platform. So this could be a Z8 test mule or a 928 mule. Any other guesses?

It really could be an M6 CSL in M5 body,like Sunny said..I would bet in 5 euro to that guess !

If it was an M6 CSL mule they would naturally use an M6 to do early tests. This looks more like a testing for a totally new car.


Next generation 5-series??????

How come you can be so sure it´s not an M6 CSL?Is it not 6 series based on shorter 5 series base ?I don´t think it´s new 5-er.No way new one is gonna have shorter wheel base than current one..

Because an M6 CSL would simply be an M6 with the same platform but better brakes, stiffer suspension, tuned + delimited engine, improved steering, better engine response and some what lighter body panels. There is no need to use the M5 body for that. The same way Mercedes doesn't use the S-class body to test the new SL Black Series.

FB = Friedberg (Wetteraukreis dictrict / Hesse) - near Frankfurt am Main.
That's no way near Munich, or Stuttgart.

My opinion is that this is Z8 test mule. Mainly due to that shorter wheelbase.

There is no good reason and I don`t believe it will happen. I found this news on motor-authority.com. It was posted on Nov 1, 2007.

"The next generation 5-Series won`t arrive until 2010 but a concept version will be displayed at the Frankfurt Moter Show in 2009. Power levels will range from 170hp to 480hp. The new M5 is rumered to feature a twin-turbo V10 with output close to 600hp."


Remember, the 5-Series always debuts a little after the E-Class.
This will be the case next time around.
If the M5 gets close to 600hp that would be amazing!
