The hole ideia of armored cars in Brasil, (the largerst fleet of bulletproof cars is here) is to avoid getting into trouble on the streets, expecialy at stoplights. Here we have a lot of grand theft auto, and many times people get killed in these thefts.. Since im 19 years old, my dad didnt let me cruise around with my beast and decided to armor it. Yes the wheels get a light aluminium belt that wont let the tire let loose from the whell, so you can keep on going in case of a blown tire by a shot. NOTE that the wheel may get destroyed if a long journey is covered, this is just in case of emergency... Brasil seem to be a safe place |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Armored M5 If he thinks that the armor is needed then it must be needed. No offence, but it is an undeniable fact that there is a lot of GTA in Brasil, due to very bad financial sit. So cruising in a car like a M5 is most likely to get you into truble. But the added weight is not a good think for such a car. But if you wanna stay alive.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Armored M5 I have also heard about Brazils high crime rates and that many cars are armored. In fact i had seen a picture of a modified BMW(not armored) with....a flame thrower under the car at the drivers side.If a thief tried to highjack the car the driver would press a button and flames would burn the thief!!Honestly! I believe Ronaldos X5 was stolen in Brazil but was later abandoned. Anyway,i think it is quite stupid armoring sport cars.If he was driving a Ferrari would he armour the Ferrari? And why is he carrying weapons?AK 47 and magnum? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Armored M5 I have Brazilian friends. Two of them live in Sao Paulo, three live in Rio de Janeiro and the other one lives in Vitoria. They once told me, the violence in Brazil is so terrifying, that now Volkswagen sells all cars with tracking system and they also offer Amour for the Golf, Jetta, New Beetle, Passat, Phaeton and Touareg, and if you buy ANY car, you HAVE to get the insurance before you take the car out of the dealership. They also told me, that it is possible to find armored Aston Martin, Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis available on the posh premium car dealers of Sao Paulo. As if it already impossible to have a supercar or high-end luxury car in Brazil, due the poor conditions of the roads and the monumentally expensive price-tag, you would have to be mad and it's totally UNREASONABLE to have a supercar or high-end luxury car without armor in Brazil. Mind you, a BMW M5 costs R$ 575.000 Brazilian reais. That is equivalent to -U$$ 283.000. -€ 207.000. -£ 142.000. Would you pay 283k, 207k, 142k for an M5? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Armored M5 Oh and btw. I once got robbed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I was walking in Copacabana beach, and then a black guy pushed me to the ground, then when I got up he pointed the gun at me and told me that I did not give him my watch, I would die. Mind you, he was armed with a 38. He stole my Ômega Seamaster watch and I had a bruise knee. But hey! Better than take a bullet at least! Last edited by Kowalski; 04-24-2007 at 06:17 PM. |

So you got your BMW - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER and you want to take it one step further in the modding department? What do you want to do ? Engine , Exhaust , Wheels - yeah those are all great add ons but why not add full body armor for those drives through the bad parts of town or for protection from your ex girlfriend. A Brazillian M5 owner has added full body armor (resulting in a gain of 185 kg) to his Black M5 Beast adding another $35k to the total cost of the vehicle. No word yet on how this adding of Armor has affected the performance of the M5. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER |
